My Opinion On This Matter

Please don't allow anyone to deceive you by saying you have to live a holy, sinless life BEFORE you can be saved. That is an absolute LIE, and an absolute IMOSSIBILITY! Neither you or I can live "above sin" . . . not even on our best day! I don't care how close to God you think you are, you will ALWAYS sin as long as you are in your corruptible body of flesh.

Am I condoning sin? NO! NO! NO! . . . NO way! I am just agreeing with the Bible, that we humans CANNOT escape the "body of this death" (Rom.7:14-24). We are flesh, and that makes us hateful, greedy, immoral, lustful, envious, unrighteous, etc. We inherit all this from Adam and Eve. We are born with it. There is only ONE Way to escape, and that is to believe God (1 John 5:11-12), and accept Jesus as our Saviour and Lord (John 3:15-16, 5:24). We must "overcome" (1 John 5:4-5). Only Jesus' precious Blood can make us free (1 Pet.1:18-19; John 8:36). Our only Hope is JESUS! Salvation is through the Blood Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. We must go to the foot of the cross in humble faith!

Only when believers walk in the Spirit (Rom.8:1; Gal.5:16,25), can we live a life that is pleasing to God. I have heard some pastors say that the Christian life is NOT hard to live. I disagree with that 100%! My friend, we CANNOT live the Christian life on our own . . . it is impossible! Jesus wants to live the Christian life through us, IF we will allow Him to do so (Mat.11:28-30).

BUT . . . sad to say, NO Christian walks in the Spirit 24/7, no matter how hard they try. We still have that old sinful nature within us, as Paul so aptly states in Rom.7:14-25. I really feel his agony each time that I read that Scripture. We should NOT sin, but as long as we still have that old nature within, we WILL sin at times. It is dangerous to teach . . . as the Charismatic Pentecostals and Seventh-Day Adventists do . . . that a person MUST maintain good works to keep their salvation. It is a lie of the Devil.

To go to Heaven, God only requires a simple child-like faith in THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. We are ETERNALLY safe in Christ, apart from our own faults, sins and shortcomings in the flesh. To teach otherwise is to nullify the GIFT of God, which is eternal life through His only begotten Son (John 3:16; 4:10; Ac.2:38; Rom.5:15-16,18; 6:23; Eph.2:8-9).

But, any way you look at it, NO Christian has God's permission to sin, NO license to sin. God condemns sin! Just because we are saved and can sin without fear of going to Hell, does NOT give us God's permission to do so. 2 Corinthians 5:10 plainly warns that every believer will stand before Judge Jesus at the Judgment Seat of Christ, to be judged according to his works . . . be they good or bad. This will be a civil court; not a criminal court. We will NOT be condemned to Hell at the Judgment Seat (John 3:18,36; 8:24; Rev.20:15). Our destination has already been decided. The moment we truly believe God (1 Jn.5:10-13) and accept His One and Only Way to Heaven, Jesus (John 14:6; Ac.4:12) . . . eternal life is ours. Our sins have been forgiven, washed away in the precious Blood of Jesus. The condemnation is gone.

I believe that we will be judged on what we did for the cause of Christ. And, did we obey our Master? Did we trust and obey Jesus? ALL people shall be judged "according to their works." (Mat.16:27; Rom.2:6; 1 Cor.3:8,13; 2 Tim.4:14; 1 Pet.1:17; Rev.2:23; 18:6; 20:12-15; 22:12).

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 tells us that some believers will receive rewards for how they lived here on Earth, while others will have no rewards in Heaven. They will get there "by the skin of their teeth," as the old saying goes. There will be tears at the Judgment Seat of Christ when people look back and see what they could have done and did nothing instead. There will be sorrow and remorse for our sins and failures of this life.

Believers do NOT have a license to sin. Our salvation rests upon the redeeming work of Jesus Christ . . . Jesus and Jesus alone; NOT on our self-righteousness (Isa.64:6). We would be "consumed because of our iniquities" if we did not have Jesus! NO believer has God's permission to sin and Hebrews 12:6-8 promises that God will chastise His children who do live in sin. No TRUE believer can live in sin and be happy, because the Holy Spirit of God will not allow us to do so (1 John 3:9).

Remember, eternal life is the unconditional GIFT of God . . . paid for by Jesus' precious redeeming Blood (1 Pet.1:18,19).
