HIS SERVANTS' MINISTRY

Welcome to our website

Grace is NOT a License to Sin

The dictionary defines the word ‘grace’as God's loving mercy toward mankind. It is His divine, unmerited favor, available to the sinner for salvation and to the redeemed for victorious living. Many Christians believe that divine ‘grace’ is a NEW Testament provision which was not extended to the human race before the Saviour came to Earth. THEY ARE WRONG. The fact is, the Almighty's ‘grace’ has always been available to sinners since the fall of Adam. Every time a repentant sinner presented him/herself before God, ‘grace’ and mercy were freely extended to that person. The word "grace" is found 39 times in the Old Testament. Some Passages: (Ex.33:19; 2 Chron.30:9; Ezra 9:8; Psalm 84:11; 103:10; 111:4; 116:5; 145:8; Pro. 3:34; Isaiah 30:19; 55:7; Jer. 2:13; Eze.20:44; 36:22; 47:1; 47:12; Dan.9:18; Hos. 6:3; Joel 2:13; 3:18; Zech.4:12; 12:10).

Grace Is God's Power To Us To Defeat Sin

We are saved by grace. There is NOT anything that we could ever do to save ourselves. We can do our best to follow the Ten Commandments and every rule our church and denomination has in their bylaws. But NONE of these attempts will not save us. We can NEVER be good enough to be saved. Again the only way to get saved is by the amazing grace of God. God gives us the grace (the ability) through faith, by trusting and believing in Jesus to be saved.

So, if I am saved by grace and not because I am good, and if Jesus died for my sins, doesn't that mean whatever I do is OK? . . . NO!!! God's grace is NOT a license to sin. In fact, being "born again" gives us a license to do the thing we normally could NOT do . . . and that is turning our back on sin!

Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. (KJV)

If you are born again, you have a unique ability to do something a lost person cannot do . . . and that is to say “I’m righteous.” OH! I can hear eternal security opponents gasp!

God's TRUE children ARE righteous . . . because of Jesus!

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (KJV) . . . Justified = just as if I never sinned! Justified = declared not guilty in the courts of Heaven! Because of Jesus! Jesus gives me the right to stand before God the Father.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV)

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (KJV)

Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. (KJV)

Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. (KJV)

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (KJV)

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: (KJV)

Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (KJV) . . . Rejoice. Our faith is often represented as producing joy: (Isaiah 12:3; 35:10, 52:9, 61:3,7; 65:14,18; John 16:22,24; Acts 13:52; Rom.14:17; Gal. 5:22; 1 Pet.1:8).

Consider the following:

  • (1.) We are justified, declared 'righteous' by God.
  • (2.) His favor and love rests on us, and we can abide there.
  • (3.) We have the wonderful hope of still greater and richer blessings in the fullness of His glory when we are admitted into Heaven.

"In HOPE." It is our earnest desire and expectation of obtaining that glory. Hope is a complex emotion, made up of a desire for something, and our expecting to obtain it. IF either of these is lacking, there is NO hope. We must DESIRE and EXPECT our entrance into Heaven! IF doubt creeps in, we have NO peace. We must stand firm in our faith! We must not allow Satan or his children (opponents of eternal security) to deceive us into thinking God will break His Promises to us . . . because God cannot lie (Tit. 1:2). Believe God . . . NOT heretics!

A TRUE Christian has an earnest desire for the glory that is to come. And we have a confident expectation of obtaining it. We believe God! When we go to the throne of grace, the Father gives us grace. When we go to the throne of grace we receive grace to do things that we could never do on our own.

IF you continue to sin, it is because YOU decide to do it. YOU defy grace. YOU defy the power that God has given you and you just do it. If you have gone to the throne of grace and asked the Father to help you stop a certain sin, then He has given you the grace to conquer it. If you continue on in that sin, the simple truth is, you have made a decision to challenge or disobey God, and that is a sin.
