Do Sins Have to Be Forsaken to Be Saved?

I have already touched on this subject in another article. Forgiven, YES! Forsaken, NO! It is NOT necessary to live a holy life to be saved . . . because that is IMPOSSIBLE! BUT . . . a person must realize they are guilty of sin in the Eyes of God (Rom.3:19) and believe on Jesus Christ for salvation (John 3:15-18,36; 5:24; Acts 4:10-12; 10:43; 16:31; Rom.10:9; 1 John 5:11-12). But does a person actually have to forsake those sins to be eligible for salvation? NO! Christianity is a "Come as you are" religion (Mat.11:28-30; John 7:37) that depends on Jesus to help us forsake our sins. WE can NOT forsake sins without Jesus!

True Biblical repentance means "a change of mind" or "a change of direction." A person must acknowledge their guilt of sin before God, and believe God and accept His Son, Jesus Christ by faith to be forgiven. We do not turn FROM the act of sinning . . . but instead we turn TO the Saviour and Lord to BE forgiven from the condemnation which sin has brought upon ALL mankind. (Rom.4:7; Eph.1:7; Col.1:14; Heb.8:12; 1 John 1:9).

Repentance is much more than just realizing and admitting that we have done wrong. We must acknowledge our guilt of violating God's holiness and purity and turn by faith to Jesus, the Christ, to be forgiven. We must know that we have hurt and displeased God. Lordship Salvationists pervert and twist the Gospel. They teach that repentance and faith are two separate steps to salvation. They teach that faith alone in Christ is NOT enough to save anyone . . . UNLESS . . . they have turned from their sinful lifestyle. That is NOT what the Bible tells us (Eph.2:8-9). They are LIARS! Salvation is receiving a GIFT from God. It is NOT our giving or doing anything to gain it. Salvation is turning to Jesus to be forgiven for our sins. It is NOT turning from our sins so that Jesus will forgive us. There's a big difference. Salvation is unconditionally in the hands of God . . . salvation does NOT rest on the self-righteousness of man (Isa.64:6), because NONE of us have any!

The ridiculous saying of people who oppose Eternal Security . . . that we have "a license to sin," is plain stupid! Our salvation is NOT based on works. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (KJV) . . . And it is certain we cannot keep it by any works we do. We need to count on HIS righteousness, NOT ours!

Phil.1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (KJV) . . . God the Father, through Christ Jesus, His Son, started salvation in us . . . WHY do people think that God is NOT able to keep His Promise of ETERNAL LIFE? He started it in us, and He WILL complete it! My friend . . . He shall FULFILL His Promise to us! Believe God! Don't believe these false teachers!

Anyone who would rejoice in the fact that they can live like Hell and still go to Heaven has NEVER experienced TRUE saving repentance. Hebrews 12:6-8 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. (KJV) . . . No TRUE believer can be happy and live in sin, because God's Holy Spirit Who indwells them will convict them. (John 16:9).
