CAN I
TRUST GOD?
Psalm 9:10 And
they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou,
Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. (KJV)
God will never forsake anyone who seeks Him. To forsake someone
is to ABANDON that person. God does NOT promise that if we trust
in Him we will escape pain or suffering. It means that God will
never leave us no matter what we face.
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord
is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. (KJV) God is perfect in His deeds! His Words are dependable!
He is like a shield in front of anyone who seeks His protection.
Some think that to trust and believe in God is simply a crutch
for those too weak to make it on their own. God definitely is
a shield to protect us when we are too weak to face certain
trials by ourselves. He strengthens, protects, and guides us
so we can go into an evil world to fight for Him.
Psalm
19:9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring
for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. (KJV) Revering God for who and what He is wise and good. His
rules are always just and fair. When we think of the law, most
often we think of something that keeps us from having fun. But
God’s Laws are the opposite. God’s Laws revitalizes us, make
us wise, give joy to our heart, light to the eyes, warns us,
and rewards us. God’s Laws are guidelines and lights for our
path, not chains for our hands and feet. They point danger out
to us, then guide us in the right paths.
Psalm
25:10 All the paths
of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant
and his testimonies. (KJV) With
faithfulness and love God leads all who obey His commands. TV
ads alone places hundreds of options before us, in addition
to appeals made by politicians, cults, false religions, etc.
Many organizations, including Christian ones, try to motivate
us to support a cause. We have dozens of decisions we must make
about our job, family, money and society. We become desperate
for someone to show us the right way. When you find yourself
pulled in several directions, remember that God teaches the
humble His way.
Psalm 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed
me, O Lord God of truth. (KJV) If we simply place
ourselves in His care, He will save us, and care for us, for
He is a faithful and trustworthy God. Because God is righteous
and loving, He truly desires to deliver His people.
Psalm 31:19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid
up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them
that trust in thee before the sons of men! (KJV)
Instead of getting impatient or depressed because of our troubles,
we should turn our thoughts to the goodness of the Lord. All
who believe God, who fear (reverence) Him, and trust in Him
will receive His abundant goodness. Those who choose not to
trust God, will NOT receive His bountiful and loving goodness.
All God’s love, goodness and mercy comes to sinners through
His wondrous Gift of the only-begotten Son of God, who died
on the cross for our sins.
Psalm
32:10 Many
sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the
Lord, mercy shall compass him about. (KJV) This is a
word of caution to unbelievers, for the way of sin will certainly
end in sorrow. But it follows with a word of comfort to believers.
A life of communion with God is far the most pleasant and comfortable.
Lord Jesus, let us rejoice in Thee, and in Thy salvation. Psalm
33:4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works
are done in truth. (KJV) ALL the Words of the Lord are
true, and ALL His Promises are dependable. ALL God’s Words are
right and true, and they can be trusted completely. The Bible
is absolutely reliable because, unlike people, God CANNOT lie,
forget, change His mind, or break His Promises. We can trust
the Bible because it contains the Words of a Holy, trustworthy,
and unchangeable God.
Psalm
34:22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants:
and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate. (KJV)
The righteous (believers) receive special protection from the
Lord; yet we still have our share of crosses in this world,
and there are those that hate them. But whatever troubles may
come upon us, they shall not hurt our souls, for God keeps them
safe. No believer is ever deserted by God, it is only unbelievers
that God will forsake.
Psalm
36:5 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy
faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. (KJV) In contrast to evil people and their wicked plots that
end in failure, God is faithful, righteous and just. His constant
love reaches to the heavens; His faithfulness reaches to the
skies; His righteousness is as unmovable as mighty mountains;
and His judgments are as full of wisdom. We do not need to fear
evil people because we know God loves us, judges evil, and will
care for us all through eternity.
Psalm
37:28 For the Lord loveth
judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for
ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. (KJV) The Lord loves what is right and will never abandon His
faithful people. He will protect them forever, God will not
forsake His saints in their affliction; and only the righteous
shall dwell for ever in Heaven. He will keep them safe for eternity,
but the children of the wicked shall receive everlasting destruction
in Hell.
Psalm
40:10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my
heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I
have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the
great congregation. (KJV)
When we think of faithfulness, we think of someone who has been
faithful to us, who accepts and loves us, even when we are unlovable.
Faithful people keep their promises, whether promises of support
or promises made in our marriage vows. God’s faithfulness is
like human faithfulness, except that it is absolutely perfect.
His love is faultless, and His Promises will not be broken.
He loves us in spite of our constant bent toward sin, and He
keeps all the Promises He has made to us, even when we break
our Promises to Him.
Psalm
84:12 O
Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. (KJV) The Lord will be to us a Shield, to keep us from the fiery
darts that fly about us. God has NOT promised to give riches
and fame, but He has promised to give grace and mercy to all
that seek Him. If we want to go to the house of the Lord (Heaven),
we must go by faith. We are indeed "blessed"
when we finally learn to trust the Lord with our all.
Psalm
89:5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O
Lord: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints. (KJV) The hosts of Heaven
praise the wonderful things God does, and the holy ones sing
of His faithfulness.
Psalm
89:8 O Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like
unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? (KJV)
There is NONE as mighty as the Lord God Almighty, nor NONE as
faithful as Him. All who trust in God’s mercy rejoice in His
Holy Name. Mercy, love and truth guide everything that He does.
His guidance from eternity past to eternity to come, are all
justice and judgment.
Psalm
89:14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of
thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face. (KJV)
Righteousness, justice, love, mercy and faithfulness are the
foundation of God’s throne. These are fundamental conditions
of the way God rules. Our Lord is NEVER unfair, unloving, or
dishonest in any action. Neither should we be. His
Kingdom is founded on righteousness, faithfulness and justice.
Psalm
89:33-34 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not
utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. [34]
My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone
out of my lips. (KJV) Even though David sinned in God’s eyes, God did NOT stop
loving him because David truly repented of all the evil he had
done. Neither did God fail to keep His Promises to David. Centuries
later, the Messiah arrived, the eternal King from David’s line,
just as God had promised. ALL that God promises, he fulfills.
He will not take back even one word of what
He says. God can be trusted to save us just as He promised He
would. God is COMPLETELY reliable and trustworthy in ALL things.
Psalm
92:1-2 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the
Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: [2] To
shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness
every night, (KJV)
It’s a privilege to give thanks to the Lord. Our heart should
sing in His honor. We should proclaim His constant and continual
love every morning and His faithfulness every night. We should
not limit our praise and thanksgiving only to the holiday, but
focus on our blessings each and every day and express our gratitude
to God for them. Thanksgiving should be on our lips every day.
We can never say thank you enough to God. When thanksgiving
becomes an essential part of your life, you will find that your
attitude toward life will change. You become more positive,
gracious, loving, kind and humble.
Psalm
94:14 For the Lord will not cast off his people,
neither will he forsake his inheritance. (KJV)
The Lord will never abandon His people; He will never desert
those who belong to Him.
Psalm
98:3 He
hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of
Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of
our God. (KJV) God will never forget any Promise He
has ever made; He will keep His promise to love and be faithful
to Israel. The whole Earth has seen the salvation of our God.
Psalm
100:5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations. (KJV)
The Lord is good, and His unfailing love will continue forever,
and His faithfulness will continue on to each generation.
Psalm
103:17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting
to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness
unto children's children; (KJV)
The love of the Lord will remain forever with all those who
fear Him. His salvation extends to the children's children.
Psalm
105:8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever,
the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. (KJV)
Because He cannot lie, He always stands by His Promise, the
commitment He made to a thousand generations.
Psalm 111:7-9 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments
are sure. [8] They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done
in truth and uprightness. [9] He sent redemption unto his people:
he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is
his name. (KJV)
All that God does is just and good, and all His commandments
are trustworthy. They, like Him, are forever true, to be obeyed
faithfully and honestly. He has paid a full ransom for His people.
His Promise will never be broken. How Holy, awe-inspiring He
is!
Psalm
117:2 For his merciful kindness is great toward
us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the
Lord. (KJV) God loves us with continual, unfailing love.
His faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 119:89-90 For ever, O Lord, thy word
is settled in heaven. [90] Thy faithfulness is unto all generations:
thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. (KJV)
God’s Word will last forever. Nothing will ever stop or destroy
it. It is eternal in Heaven. His faithfulness will endure through
all ages. God alone has set the Earth in place, and it remains. Psalm 121:3-4 He will not suffer
thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
[4] Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor
sleep. (KJV) He will not let you fall; your Protector
is always awake. The Protector of Israel (and us) never dozes
or sleeps.
Psalm
125:1 They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount
Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. (KJV)
The secret to harmony in life is to trust in God, because He
NEVER changes. He cannot be shaken by any changes in our world
because He is in control of all things, and He remains forever.
Psalm
132:11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David;
he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set
upon thy throne. (KJV)
The Lord swore an oath to David. This is a truth He will not
take back: "I will set one of your own descendants on your
throne." This is speaking of Christ, who will one day rule
the world.
Psalm
146:6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and
all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: (KJV)
God made Heaven, Earth, the sea, and everything in them. The
Lord remains faithful forever. The Lord has remained faithful
down through the years. He has no intention of changing now,
or ever.
Proverbs
28:25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife:
but he that putteth his trust in the Lord shall be made fat. (KJV) Those who trust
in God make life much easier, for they live in continual dependence
upon God and His grace, and live by faith.
Proverbs
29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso
putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe. (KJV)
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting in the Lord
means safety and peace.
Isaiah
11:5 Andrighteousness shall be the girdle of his
loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. (KJV)
God is clothed with fairness and truth.
Isaiah
51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look
upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like
smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they
that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation
shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. (KJV) Some people
think this Earth will not be destroyed. It will, and this is
just one place that states this Truth. But --- God’s love, mercy,
truth and salvation will never cease! When you trust God, you
can’t go wrong.
Isaiah
54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills
be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither
shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that
hath mercy on thee. (KJV)
God’s grace is forever to them that trust Him.
Jeremiah
31:35-37 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun
for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the
stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the
waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name: [36] If those
ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed
of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for
ever. [37] Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured,
and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will
also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have
done, saith the Lord. (KJV)
I think this is a remarkable portion of Scripture! Some people
think that the Jews are no longer God’s chosen people. These
verses absolutely prove that God will NEVER cast off Israel!
God will not do away with the laws of nature, nor will He reject
the Jews! We cannot measure the heavens, and we cannot search
out the foundation of the Earth, and God will not cast the Jews
away forever for their sins. The Lord has spoken!
Lament.
3:23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (KJV) God’s faithfulness
is SO gtreat! His mercies begin anew each day.
Matthew
24:34 Heaven and earth
shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (KJV) Heaven and earth
will disappear, but God’s Words will remain forever.
Acts
13:32-37 And
we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which
was made unto the fathers, [33] God hath fulfilled the same
unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again;
as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son,
this day have I begotten thee. [34] And as concerning that he
raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption,
he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
[35] Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not
suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. [36] For David, after
he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on
sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: [37]
But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. (KJV)
Jesus’ resurrection was the great proof of His being the Son
of God. It was not possible He could be held by death, because
He was the Son of God. He had life in Himself, which He could
lay down and take it again. The "sure mercies of David"
is everlasting life, of which the resurrection was a sure guarantee.
The blessings of redemption in Christ are a reliable down payment.
May we look to Him, the Son of God, by His resurrection from
the dead, that by faith in Him we may walk with God. And may
we look forward with a joyful hope of our blessed resurrection.
Romans
11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without
repentance. (KJV)
The privileges and invitation that God gave to Israel will never
be withdrawn by Him, nor will He withdraw our gifts or calling.
God originally planned that the Jews would be the source of
God’s blessing to the Gentiles (Ge.12:3). But, the Jews did
not become God’s evangelists to the world, yet God blessed the
Gentiles anyway through the Jewish Messiah. He still continued
His love for the Jews because of His Promises to Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob, but someday the few faithful Jews will share in God’s
mercy.
Romans
15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister
of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises
made unto the fathers: (KJV)
Why did Jesus come? Jesus came to bring the truth to the Jews
and to show that God is true to his Promises. He came to fulfill
prophecies in the Old Testament, to show God does indeed keep
His Word.
1 Cor. 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were
called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV)
All who believe in the Lord Jesus will be considered blameless
when Christ Jesus returns. If you have faith in Christ, even
if it is weak, you are and will be saved.
1
Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but
such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not
suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with
the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may
be able to bear it. (KJV) Bad
things, wrong desires and temptations happen to EVERYONE. Don’t
feel you’ve been singled out when they happen to you. Others
have resisted temptation, so can you! ANY temptation can be
resisted because God will help you resist it. How? He will help
you recognize those people and situations that give you trouble,
so that you can run from anything you know is wrong. You have
a free will, choose to do only what is right. Pray for God’s
help, and look for strong Christian friends who love God and
can offer help when you are tempted. Running from a tempting
situation is your first step on the way to victory. God is faithful
and can be trusted in all situations.
2
Cor. 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are
yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. (KJV) Christ Jesus made God’s many Promises come true. This
is why through Christ, we can say "Amen" to
the glory of God. All of God’s Promises of what the Messiah
would be like are fulfilled in Christ. Jesus was completely
faithful in His ministry; He never sinned, He faithfully died
for us, and now He faithfully intercedes for us. Christ Jesus
is faithful and trustworthy in ALL things!
1
Thes. 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who
also will do it. (KJV)
God calls His people, and will not cause His calling to fall
short of its intended end (Heaven with Him). We must not look
at our enemies, before and behind us, on the right hand and
on the left. We must look steadfastly to God's faithfulness
to His promises, God’s honor, and God's love for those whom
He calls.
2 Tim.
2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful:
he cannot deny himself. (KJV) If we are unfaithful,
He remains faithful because He cannot be untrue to Himself.
Jesus is always faithful and true to us. He will stay by our
side even when we have withstood so much that we seem to have
no faith left. We may doubt at times, but Jesus is ALWAYS faithful
to His Promise to be with us "to
the very end of the age" (Mat.28:20). When
we refuse Christ’s help, we break our communication with God,
but He will never turn His back on any born again believer;
even though we may turn our backs on Him.
2 Tim.
2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth
sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from
iniquity. (KJV)
False teachers still spurt out lies about the Truth of the Bible.
Some twist the truth, some water it down, and some delete it
by saying that God’s Truth no longer applies in today’s times.
But no matter how many people follow these liars, the solid
foundation of God’s Truth never changes, is never shaken, and
will never fade. When we follow God’s Truth, He will never forsake
us! The Lord knows all those who belong to Him, but IF you intend
to worship the Lord you MUST give up your sin.
Titus
1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot
lie, promised before the world began; (KJV)
GOD DOES NOT LIE! The foundation of our faith is trust in God’s
character. Because God is Truth, He is the source of all truth.
Believing in Him, and trusting Him, leads to godliness, and
living a God-fearing life. The eternal life that God has promised
will be ours, because He keeps His Promises, ALL His Promises!
Build your faith and your life on the foundation of a trustworthy
God who never lies.
Hebrews
10:22-23 Let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. [23]
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for he is faithful that promised;) (KJV)
Once we are God’s children (John 1:12-13), we can go right into
the Presence of God, with true hearts fully trusting Him. For
our evil consciences have been purified with Christ’s Blood
to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure
water.
Hebrews
10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall
come will come, and will not tarry. (KJV) We are not to abandon our faith in times of persecution,
pain, sorrow, or distress, but to show by our perseverance that
our faith is real. Faith means resting in what Christ has done
for us in the past, but it also means trusting Him for what
He will do for us now and in the future.
1 Peter
4:19 Wherefore
let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the
keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful
Creator. (KJV) Those who suffer because it is
God’s will for them, hould trust themselves completely to their
Creator, because He ALWAYS keeps His Promise.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not
slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but
is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance. (KJV) God may seem slow to some believers, especially when they
face persecution and long to be delivered. But God is NOT slow;
He just is not on our timetable (Ps.90:4). He is waiting so
that more sinners will repent and turn to Jesus to save them.
We must not sit around and wait for Christ to return, but we
should live, realizing that time is short and that we have important
work to do. Be ready to meet Christ any time, any place ---
even today; but plan your life of service to Him, as though
He may not return for many years.
1 John
1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV) This is one tremendous Promise from God!Confessing
we are wrong and God is right frees us to enjoy fellowship with
Christ, eases our consciences and removes our guilt. But some
Christians do not understand how it works. They feel so guilty
that they keep confessing the same sins over and over; then
they wonder if they might have forgotten something. Other Christians
believe that God forgives them when they confess, but if they
died with unconfessed sins, they would be forever lost. These
people do not understand that God wants to forgive us. He allowed
His beloved Son to die just so He could offer us pardon for
all our wrongdoing. When we come to Christ, He forgives all
the sins we have committed or will ever commit. We don’t need
to confess the sins of the past over and over again, and we
don’t have to fear that God will reject us if we don’t keep
our slate perfectly clean. We should continue to confess our
sins, but not because failure to do so will make us lose our
salvation, but that we can enjoy fellowship and joy with Him
to the fullest. Our relationship with Christ is secure. Unconfessed
sin does not lead to loss of salvation but loss of fellowship
with God. We lose the joy of our salvation (Ps.51:12). True
confession (name your sins one by one, not lump them together)
also involves a commitment NOT to continue in sin. We wouldn’t
be sincerely confessing our sins to God if we planned to commit
them again and just wanted temporary forgiveness. If God has
forgiven us for our sins because of Christ’s death, why must
we confess our sins? In admitting our sins and receiving Christ’s
cleansing, we: agreeing with God that our sin truly is sin and
that we are willing to turn from it, and insuring that we don’t
hide our sins from Him and ourselves, and realizing our tendency
to sin and relying on His power to overcome it.
Rev. 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the
song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works,
Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of
saints. (KJV) The song of Moses celebrated Israel’s
deliverance from Egypt (Exodus 15). The song of the Lamb celebrates
the ultimate deliverance of God’s people from the power of Satan.
Trust Him. It’s true!
