What
must I do after I have accepted Christ?
STUDY
THE BIBLE!
The
Bible is a Christian’s ‘user’s manual on how
to live.’ Everything we need to know about
God and living a life that pleases Him is
found in its pages. Tragically, many go through
life without so much as picking up this amazing
Book, whose words were inspired by God. The
success or failure in our Christian life is
determined by how much of the Bible we allow
to penetrate into our hearts and minds, and
how obedient we are to the standards and teachings
that we find within it.
Just
as we need to continually breathe oxygen to survive physically, we need
to continually study the
Bible to grow and prosper spiritually.
Important reasons why we need to study the Bible.
Studying
the Bible Is Necessary for Our Spiritual
Growth. The
Bible performs three functions to help
us mature spiritually. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given
by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness: [17]
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works. [KJV] Because the WHOLE Bible
is inspired by God and trustworthy, we
should read it and apply it to our lives.
The Bible is our standard for testing
everything else that claims to be true.
It is our safeguard against false teaching
and our source of guidance for how we
should live. It is our ONLY SOURCE of
knowledge about how we can be saved. God
wants to show you what is true and teach
you how to live for Him. If you read it
regularly, you will discover God’s truth
and become confident in your life and
faith. God is SO willing to share things
with us, IF we let Him.
Studying
the Bible Keeps Us Spiritually Strong. The
more we search this Book and apply its
teachings to our lives, the more we will
be able to stand our ground in the storms
and trials of life (Psalm 119:9-18).
Studying
the Bible Makes Scripture a Central Part
of Our Lives. God desires that we make the Bible an
essential part of our lives (Deut. 11:18-20).
Studying
the Bible Helps Us Apply Its Truth to
Our Lives. We
will notice positive changes in our lives
as we apply what we read in Scripture
(Psalm 1:1-3).
