Satan's Goal in Tempting Us
All our basic desires are from the Lord. He gave us desires, yearnings and needs so that we would learn to depend on Him, and to improve our relationships with one another. Only when these desires are distorted, do these needs become sin in our lives. The devil tries to twist our yearning for love into lust, our longing for respect into pride, and our hope for success into greed, and way too often, he succeeds.
Eating is a natural God-given need . . . BUT . . . Satan alters, distorts and misleads us to eat when we are not hungry, or to eat wrong food. As a result of his distortion, some people destroy their bodies by overeating or consuming the wrong things; while others starve themselves for fear of being overweight.
Of all the natural God-given needs that the Lord gives us, sex is without doubt the one Satan twists and abuses most often. One of its God-ordained purposes is to make possible a special and unique relationship between a man and woman. We are NOT to commit adultery or fornication, and we are NOT to choose the wicked homosexuality lifestyle that Satan urges. It is an abomination in God’s eyes! (Gen.19:4-5; Lev.18:22; 20:13; Rom.1:26; 1 Cor.6:9-11; Jude 1:7). BEWARE!!!
Sexual intimacy is a gift from our Creator. My friend, the prevailing mindset concerning sex today is from Satan, NOT from God! The Bible clearly teaches: One man for one woman, for life! God’s plan for sexual intimacy is solely for the marriage relationship alone. But, according to the devil, sex is for any man or any woman whenever you want it, including kids still in grade school. BEWARE!!! THAT is NOT what God says! God says judgment is coming, and if your name is not in the book of life, you are going to be condemned to HELL!!!
Breaking God’s commandments will NOT put your name in that book! Rev. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV)
God is not against sex any more than He is against food, love or success. What He opposes is the satisfying ANY desire outside the boundaries He has so lovingly chosen for us.
Satan is super-fast to offer a deceitful substitute for God's best, knowing that the alternatives he offers will NOT, CANNOT truly satisfy. Do NOT allow the God’s enemy (and ours) to grab hold of your attention, because more than likely you will completely miss out on the Father's blessings.
Think about this: girls compromise their morals to be in the in-crowd; boys and men trapped in pornography; alcoholics and drug addicts seeking to escape problems rather than face them; food-oholics pigging out far beyond normal, or the opposite, starving themselves so they do not get fat. Temptations are common to ALL people. What do you do with them, is the question! You do NOT have to submit to the devil! We must turn to the Lord and His answers, NOT choose what is quick or easy. God does not want you to live a life of frustration and anxiety. The apostle Paul wrote: Phil. 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (KJV) . . . One important thing that we must remember is . . . God does NOT promise to meet your needs immediately or even to give you what you ask for. What He does promise is His awesome peace, meaning an inner strength to endure (hanging in there), until your desires and needs are fulfilled. It will pass all understanding, and keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
By choosing for the Lord's peace instead of Satan's hopeless substitute, you can be assured that when it is time for God to meet your specific need, you will be ready. This standard applies to everything from finding the right marriage partner to having the money you need to pay your bills. Our heavenly Father knows His children's needs and desires. Matthew 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (KJV) . . . We can trust our incredibly awesome God to provide for us . . . at the exact right time. TRUST HIM!
