WHY Should I Seek the Lord?

Psalm 105:1-4 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. 2  Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.
3  Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. 4  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore
. (KJV)
Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (KJV) Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. (KJV)
Amos 5:8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name: (KJV)
Acts 17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: (KJV)
More Scriptures on Seek the Lord: (Ps.22:26; 34:10; 105:3-4; Pro.28:5; Isa;9:13; 51:1; 55:6; Hos.3:5; 5:6; 10:12; Amos 5:4,6,8; Zep.2:3; Zec.8:21; Acts 17:27)

WHERE is God in your Christian life? Is He number ONE in your thinking? Or is He only in your mind when you are in trouble?
So many people seek wealth, popularity, security, pleasure or whatever else they think (in vain), that might bring them peace. They forget that God will provide all their needs. Phil. 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV) . . . And He also does so, much more abundantly than they could imagine, and the Lord is the ONLY One who can give them peace.

TRUE Christians are meant to constantly and persistently seek the Lord and His will for our lives. When we seek Him, it reveals that we want a deeper, closer relationship with our heavenly Father. Salvation is only the beginning! When we seek Him, we learn, and our desire, our need to understand Him continues to grow, along with our faith. That is the wonder of getting to know our awesome God.

The Christian life is more than trusting Jesus Christ as Saviour, joining a church, and getting baptized. The Christian life of faith is having a serious relationship with the God who created us, Who has power over all things, and Who has made marvelous Promises to His children. For this reason, we are to seek Him FIRST! Everything else in our life must remain secondary.

WHY should we SEEK the Lord?
Believers should seek God because He wants to conform us to the likeness of His Son. Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (KJV)

There are times when we foolishly distance ourselves from the Lord . . . WHY? Because we do NOT focus on Him with our whole hearts. Matthew 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (KJV) John 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. (KJV) . . . Jesus must be first in your life, or you are not a TRUE Christian.
Millions SAY they are “Christians”, but they are simply hypocrites. Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (KJV) . . . To be accepted by Jesus, you must trust and obey Him, and place Him first in your life. No other way!

Believers must seek the Lord:

#1. Seek Him with All Our Hearts. Jer. 29:10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. (KJV) . . . The Lord must be our main concern IF we really want to know Him in a personal way. This means we must confess our sins and submit to His will. Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (KJV) NOTHING or NO one, should take precedence over the treasure we have in Christ.

#2. Seek Him diligently. Proverbs 8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. (KJV) . . . A true desire to know God means we put ALL other things aside and are not distracted.

#3. Seek Him without ceasing. Psalm 105:4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. (KJV) . . . There is nothing is too small or unimportant to be lifted to God in prayer. We must seek Him about every decision and plan in our lives, IF we are to succeed.

#4. Seek Him in faith. Heb. 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (KJV) . . . Be assured that God will provide what is best for you, at the right time.

#5. Seek Him humbly. Psalm 63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; (KJV) . . . The only real assurance we have in life is Jesus. When we fail to realize our dependence on Him, it makes us proud and arrogant and deserving of rebuke.

Unbelievers need to seek God because:
*****#1. A person’s sins causes God to hide His face from them. Isaiah 59:1-2  Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2  But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. (KJV) . . . Anyone who is content and willing to live with their sin are separated from God . . . they are His enemies. They may attempt to pray to God when disaster strikes, but He will NOT hear them. Eze. 8:18 Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them. (KJV) Micah 3:4 Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings. (KJV) . . . Some cults teach that God is a God of love and would not bring His wrath down on people. A cult is a church not teaching the full Truth. BEWARE!!! These teachers are WRONG!  God is a God of love . . . YES! But He is also a God of WRATH!

*****#2. They will be exposed to the wrath of God. Those who refuse to turn to the Lord and continue to practice things that infuriate Him will experience judgment.
Psalm 78:31 The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel. (KJV)
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (KJV)
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (KJV)
Romans 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; (KJV)
Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. (KJV)
Colossians 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: (KJV)
A WARNING FROM JESUS as to what they can expect:
Mat. 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (KJV)
Mat. 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (KJV)
*****#3. God will give them over to a depraved mind. Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; (KJV)  Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. (KJV) . . . There are some people who SAY they believe in God, yet when they reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ, time after time, they are living in danger, for they are ignoring the leading of the Holy Spirit. A corrupt mind cannot make right judgments.

*****#4. Unbelievers get the wrong idea from Scripture. 1 Cor. 2:14-16 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15  But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. (KJV) . . . Since unbelievers do not have the Holy Spirit abiding within them, they have no spiritual discernment and cannot understand the ways of God. Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. (KJV) . . . The Holy Spirit can only start to work in our lives when we recognize (realize, know) our need and confess our sins. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV) . . . The only prayer that God will hear from an unbeliever is a prayer of repentance, admitting they are wrong and God is right!

*****#5. God tell us that the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV) . . . The word death here, is not just physical death, but spiritual death (eternal death in Hell). Anyone who does NOT accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord are dead spiritually and will experience the eternal death spoken of in the Book of Revelation. Rev. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV) . . . Only JESUS can put your name in the book of life! See different deaths: . . . . . . . . . http://www.hisservants.org/death_then_what_1.1.htm

Psalm 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. (KJV)  . . . The wicked are unbelievers in the eyes of God. An unbeliever must seek the Lord while He may be found. Isaiah 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: (KJV) . . . Every time a lost person feels convicted by the Holy Spirit, but willingly chooses to reject Him, his heart is hardened. In the end, that person will become so hard-hearted that it becomes impossible to respond to that call.

As TRUE believers, we should seek God because He seeks us. He wants to sit on the throne of our hearts. When we seek Him, we must pay attention and listen to Him so He can bless us, because He wants only the best for us in our lives.
