Why does Christianity prompt such a negative reaction?
TRUE Christianity is hated!

Jesus had words to say about it: Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (KJV)

A righteous life is a threat to the devil’s dark world. Christians who love the Lord Jesus and live in obedience to Him, are lights who expose the darkness of sinful lives. The apostle Paul clearly pointed out the connection between holiness and persecution: 2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. (KJV)

Oppression comes in many different forms and degrees

In some parts of the world, being a Christian is not only dangerous; it could result in death. For those living in a more free society, persecution comes in the form of bias, bigotry, blame, criticism, discrimination, exclusion, hatred, insults, narrow-mindedness, intolerance, prejudice, etc.

Whenever persecution comes, and it will, no matter how severe or mild it is, every TRUE believer must decide: Shall I compromise to avoid trouble . . . OR . . . shall I stand firm and endure. It is true, compromising may bring relief (for the present), BUT . . . those who choose to live righteously, no matter the consequences, gain so much more: a fruitful life that fulfills God’s purpose, a positive influence on other people’s lives, and an amazing witness to unbelievers.

The Lord Jesus NEVER compromised! The Lord Jesus NEVER backed away from what He believed! The Lord Jesus NEVER backed away from persecution and suffering! Let us use the Lord Jesus as our Example to live in this wicked world!
