Reassuring Promises of God
With Comments

Deuteronomy 32:6 Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee? (KJV) . . .  In a world where family betrays family member, spouses cheat on one another, it is encouraging to know that God never leaves us or forsakes us. We sometimes forsake God but He never forsakes us and His love never fails. He never gives up on us.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (KJV) . . . Anxiety and worry can sometimes lead to fear it is is not stopped. God tells us that we do NOT need to fear because He is our God and He Himself will strengthen us.  God will hold us up with His righteous right hand . . . meaning He is always there to strengthen us and hold us up.  If God holds us up, WHY should we fear?

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (KJV) . . . Verily verily, I say unto you . . . any time that Jesus speaks these words, it is very wise to pay close attention, because it is VERY important! Jesus is the Amen, the true and faithful witness (Rev.3:14). He that heareth my word . . . this means the Gospel!  To hear, in this place, this does NOT mean just the act of hearing, BUT . . . to receive it in a proper manner; to allow it to make its proper impression on the mind and heart. It means to obey. The word hear is often used in this way (Mat.11:15; Jn.8:47; Acts 3:23). Millions outwardly HEAR the Gospel, but they neither understand it OR obey it, because they have NO desire to do so. And believeth on him that sent me . . .  the Father, in the plan of redemption, is represented as sending His Son to save men (Jn.3:17). Faith in God, Who sent His Son, is here represented as being connected with everlasting life. BUT . . . there can be NO faith in the Father Who sent His Son, without having faith in Him Who is sent. The belief of one of the true doctrines of religion is connected with, and will lead to, the belief of all. Consider the following Passage:
1 John 5:10-13  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (KJV) . . . Do NOT call God a "liar'! BIG mistake!
Hath everlasting life . . .  the state of man by nature is represented as death in sin (Eph.2:1). Faith in Jesus is the opposite of this . . . it is LIFE . . . everlasting life! HATH = have it NOW! When a person is converted, it is said that he HAS everlasting life; NOT just shall have, but is already in possession of that life or happiness which shall never end. It is our new life begun, for we have already entered into our inheritance (1 Pet.1:4-5), which is everlasting.
Inheritance: (1 Pet.1:4-5; 3:9; Mat.25:34; Acts 20:32; 26:18; Gal.3:18;m Eph.1:11,14,18; Col.1:12; Heb.9:15).
Incorruptible: (1 Cor.9:25; 15:52-54).  Undefiled: (Rev.21:27) Fadeth not away: (1 Pet.5:4; Isa.40:7-8; Eze.47:12; Jam.1:11) Reserved: (ps.31:19; Col.1:5; 3:3-4; 2 Tim.4:8).
HATH eternal life: (Jn.5:24; 3:16-18,36; 6:40,47; 8:51; 11:26; 12:44; 20:31; Mk.16:16; Rom.10:11-13; 1 Pet.1:21; 1 Jn.5:10-13).
NO condemnation: (Jn.3:17-18; 10:27-30; Rom.8:1,16-17, 28-30, 33-34; 1 Thes.5:9; 2 Thes.2:13-14; 1 Pet.1:5).
The dead are not affected by the cares and pleasures of the world. They hear neither the voice of merriment nor the footsteps of the living over their graves. So too with sinners. They are unmoved with the things of faith. They do NOT hear the voice of God; they do NOT see His loveliness; they are NOT concerned with His threats. But belief in Jesus IS life. The TRUE Christian lives with God, knows and acts as if there is a God. The blessings here today, and in the hereafter, are one and the same. The happiness of Heaven is living unto God . . . feeling His Presence ever so near.
And shall not come into condemnation . . . neither for original sin, although judgment has passed upon all men unto condemnation for it; nor for actual sins and transgressions: although everyone deserves to be condemned. NO one who is in Christ Jesus, believing in Him openly and clearly shall ever come into condemnation (sentenced to Hell). When he shall stand in judgment, he shall be acquitted by the righteousness of Christ, which he, by faith, receives as his justifying righteousness (Rom.5:1; 1 Cor.1:30). Our faith in Christ is our security against all condemnation! Whosoever believes in Him shall NOT be condemned, but saved; and though he may come into judgment, condemnation to Hell will not happen!
But is passed from death unto life . . . we pass over from a state of spiritual death to the life of God's child. We ALL are dead in trespasses and sins and from under a sentence of condemnation, and eternal death. Only our faith in Christ Jesus can change this situation. Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (KJV)
Only our faith in Jesus and the grace of God saves us. Eph.2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV)
Only the righteousness of Christ, applied to us by our faith, justifies us. 1 Cor.1:30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: (KJV) . . . Our "righteousnesses" are as "filthy rags" (Isa.64:6).
Jesus is the ONLY Way to Heaven! John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) . . . SO many people today simply do NOT believe this! They just do NOT believe God. They call God a "liar." 1 John 5:10-12 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV)
My friend . . . JESUS IS ETERNAL LIFE!!! 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. (KJV)
Only Jesus can give us eternal life and secure us from the second death which is Hell! (Rev.2:11; 20:6,14-15; 21:8).
Spiritual death? What is it? See our booklet: Death, then what?. . . http://www.hisservants.org/death_then_what_1.htm
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (KJV)
He that has the Son HAS eternal life: (Jn.3:16,18,36; 6:40,47; 8:51; 11:26; 12:26; 20:31;  Mk.16:16; Rom.10:11-13; 1 Pet.1:21; 1 Jn.5:1,10-13).
NO condemnation: (Jn.10:27-30; Rom.8:1,16-17,28-30,33-34; 1 Thes.5:9:2 Thes.2:13-14; 1 Pet.1:5; 1 Jn.3:14).

John 6:39-40 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. (KJV) . . . the "Father's will" = His reason, His desire, His intention. WHY did Jesus come to Earth? Because it was the Father's will, the Father's plan! Jesus came willingly to carry out His will, and we can be assured that what God's Plan is, shall be done. God's will is always right and just, and Jesus has the power and wisdom to carry it out perfectly. Jesus was always faithful, and always will be, and all power was given to Him in Heaven and on Earth (Mat.28:18), and we can rest assured that He will most certainly complete the will of God. Count on it!
Father's will: (Mat.11:25-27; 18:14; Lk.10:21; 12:32; Jn.6:39-40; 10:27-30; 17:12; 18:9; Rom.8:28-39; 9:11,16; Eph.1:5-9,11; 2:8; Phil.2:13; 2 Thes.1:11; 2 Tim.1:9; 2:19; 1 Pet.1:3-5).
That of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing . . . "of all which" . . . every single one who believes on Him (Jn.6:37); all the elect which were given to Christ by His Father. "I should lose nothing" . . . . literally means, "I shall not allow their destruction." He confirms here that He shall keep it to eternal life. NO child of God shall be condemned and cast into Hell! (Jn.3:15-16; 5:24).

Even though God's children will probably die physically, and their body return to corruption of the grave (Job 19:26), their soul will NOT be destroyed. The Redeemer will watch over him, although in his grave, and keep him to the resurrection of the just (Dan.12:2). This is affirmed of all who are given to Christ Jesus by the Father; or, as in the next verse, "Every one that believeth on him shall have everlasting life."
Job 19:25-27 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me. (KJV)
Psalm 17:15  As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. (KJV)
What is yet to come for TRUE believers: (Ps.16:11; 17:15; 36:8-9; 63:5; 65:4; Isa.55:1-2; Jer.31:12-14; Zec.9:17; Mat.5:6; Jn.7:37; Rev.7:16-17; 21:3-4,23).
But should raise it up again at the last day . . . their bodies, being given to Christ, and redeemed by His precious Blood (1 Pet.1:18-19), as well as their souls, shall be by the Master, raised up at the last day! "At the last day" . . . on Judgment Day! The Jews thought that the righteous would be raised up at the appearing of the Messiah, but here, Jesus directs them to a resurrection in the future. He firmly declares to them that they shall be raised at the last day!
It is also thought by some Jewish writers that they did not believe that the wicked would be raised. This opposes what the Bible states:
Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (KJV)
Mat.25:46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (KJV)
John 5:29  And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (KJV)
Acts 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust. (KJV)
Revelation 20:5-6  But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (KJV) . . . The wicked dead SHALL be raised!
NO one is "predestined" to Hell! Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. (KJV) . . . "Predestination" applies ONLY to the saved. It means just exactly what Jesus is saying here. When a person believes God (1 Jn.5:10-12), and accepts Christ as Saviour and Lord, he is justified (Rom.5:1) . . . and when he is justified, he is going to be glorified (Rom.8:30). When Jesus starts out with 100 sheep, He shall come through with 100 sheep. He will not lose any! That is what this means. Everyone who believes and receives Christ has everlasting life and will be raised up again at the last day.
Once Saved, Always saved: . . . . . . . . http://www.hisservants.org/OSAS_1_eternal_security_h_s.htm
Justified: (Rom.1:17; 3:22,26-28,30; 4:5,24-25; 5:1,9,18; 9:30; 10:10; Jn.3:16-18; 5:24; Acts 13:38-39;  Gal.2:16; 3:11-14,25; 5:4-6; Phil.3:9; Jam.2:23-26)
Raise it up the last day: (Jn.5:28;6:39-40,44,54; 11:24-26; 12:48; Rom.8:11; Phil.3:20-21).

John 6:40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. (KJV) . . .
And this is the will of him that sent me . . . the will of My Father Who sent Me. Jesus clearly tells us God's will as revealed in the Gospel. The sons of men must be made acquainted with it, or they are in trouble.
That everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him . . . this means that whosoever sees Him as to BELIEVE in Him. This is not to be understood of a bodily sight of Christ, for we today do NOT literally SEE Him in the Body. Today we SEE Him with our heart. Nor does it mean a mere indefinite knowledge of Him, or historical faith in Him.
It was not enough for them to see Him back then, for they had to BELIEVE What and Who He was, the Son of God, the Messiah and Saviour of the world! That has NOT changed! Those people then, and us today as well, must have faith that Jesus IS Who He says He is, and can and will do what He says He will do! Only a "few" believed then and that too has not changed in today's world! Jesus says that we must SEE Him for Who He is, and believe on Him that He can save us!
People are by nature blind, they shut their eyes and heart to all that is spiritually good. Only the Spirit of God that can open blind eyes, and illuminate their understanding. Only when we then see, in His light, our sin, our lack of righteousness, our lost state and condition, can we ever SEE Christ in His beauty, glory and Excellency . . . and His ability and willingness to save us, and the fullness of His grace. Only through Jesus can we ever have righteousness, peace, pardon, cleansing, wisdom, strength, grace, eternal life, and salvation from Hell. IF we decide to reject Jesus, we reject all the goodness of God the Father! BEWARE!!!
May have everlasting life . . . those who put their faith in Christ will be resurrected from physical death to eternal life with God in Heaven. With Christ there is NO secret declaration of election. The will of the Father applies to ALL who believe on the Son. The condition of eternal life is faith in Christ; that makes Him the Lord of your heart and soul. Christ hath brought to light immortality. He is the “Resurrection and the Life.” God's TRUE children shall be resurrected (1 Cor.15:52-57; 1 Thes.4:16).

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (KJV) . . . And I will raise him up at the last day . . . there are conditions to being raised up to everlasting life! Raise it up the last day:  (Jn.5:28;6:39-40,44,54; 11:24-26; 12:48; Rom.8:11; Phil.3:20-21).
I have strived to point them out to you. ALL people shall be resurrected one day, but NOT all people go the Heaven as some heretics teach. http://www.worldlychaos.org/w_c_false_doctrines_universalism.1.htm

Being raised to eternal life is ONLY for those who see Christ Jesus spiritually and believe on Him.  Everlasting life: (Jn.3:3-5,15-16,36; 5:24; 6:50; 10:10; 11:25-26; 1 Jn.5:12).
And I give unto them eternal life . . . Jesus gives eternal life to His sheep now (Jn.5:24); He gives them a spiritual life, or a life of grace, which ends in eternal life. He gives them Himself, Who is the true God and Eternal Life (Jn.17:3; 1 Jn.5:20), and whosoever has Him has life! He gives them His righteousness (1 Cor.1:30), which is their justification of life (Rom.5:1,18), for this is what entitles them to eternal life. He gives them the foretastes of it, in faith, hope and His love, giving them the earnest and pledge of it with His own Spirit (Jn.14:16). This life in Him is hid with Him in God (Col.3:1-7), and is safe and secure.
And they shall never perish . . . although they were lost in Adam, and in a perishing condition in themselves, during their state of disobedience; they were convinced by the Spirit of God; and come as persons ready to submit to Christ, as Saviour. They are  subject to many spiritual backslides and downfalls, they may lose their peace, joy and comfort, and think their strength and hope are gone, but they shall NEVER lose the eternal life Jesus has promised to them. http://www.hisservants.org/OSAS_1_eternal_security_h_s.html Once a person is truly saved, they are saved FOREVER! Eternal is everlasting, no stopping!
To perish here means to be destroyed, or to be punished in Hell (Mat.10:28). Whosoever believes in Christ shall not perish (Jn.3:15).
Neither shall any pluck them out of my hand . . . Christ's sheep are in His Hands, put there by God His Father, as a proof of His love to Christ and the sheep. Shall any . . . no man or no devil with all his malice, power, cunning shall be able to pluck them from His Hand. Pluck them . . . to rob, to seize and grab away as a robber does his prey. Jesus holds them so secure and so certainly that NO foe can surprise Him as a robber does, or overcome Him by force. My hand . . . is the Hand of  Jesus by which He holds and secures an object. It means that Jesus has them safely in His own care and keeping (Rom.8:38-39).

John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (KJV) . . . It means that Jesus has them safely in His own care and keeping (Rom.8:38-39).

John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. (KJV) . . . My Father which gave them me . . . (Jn.6:37-39).
Is greater than all . . . all other gods, all other creatures be they angels or men, or all the enemies of His people. The church (sheep fold) given to Him, and built upon Him, is stronger than all its enemies.
And none is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand . . . these sheep have a double security . . . they are in the Hands of Christ, and they are in the Hands of the Father of Christ. The souls of all these sheep are 100% safe and secure 24/7!  If someone possibly thought they could be plucked out of Christ's Hands, which is NOT possible, they are still in the Hands of God the Father. There is no reason to think that the sheep can be plucked out of the Hands of the either One.

John 10:30 I and my Father are one. (KJV) . . . I and my Father are one . . . NOT in Person, for the Father is a distinct Person from the Son, and the Son a distinct Person from the Father.  They are ONE in nature and spirit, perfections and power, since Christ Jesus is speaking of the impossibility of plucking away any of the sheep, out of His own and His Father's Hands.
It should be considered that Jesus is both the Son of God and the Son of Man. And as TRUE Christians believe; since He is the Son of God, He lay in the bosom of His Father (Jn.1:18), and had access to all His secrets, His thoughts, purposes and plans . . . and as such, He knew the day and hour of judgment, being God omniscient. In this respect, He is ONE with the Father, having the same perfections of power, knowledge and wisdom . . . but as the Son of Man, He is not of the same nature as the Father, and has not the same knowledge. His human knowledge of things was not infinite.

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. (KJV) . . . This Promise reassures us because Jesus will never, ever cast out or turn anyone away that comes to Him. This means that anyone can come to Him and also tells us that God is no respecter of persons. When people come to Jesus for eternal life, He turns NO one away . . . no matter their social status.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (KJV) . . . Only Jesus alone, can give eternal life. IF a person believes in Jesus, when they die, they can die with the assurance of living again with Him.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (KJV) . . . This is awesome! NO one or NOTHING can separate us from the love of God! We all need to be persuaded at times by the Holy Spirit and by Scripture that we cannot be separated from God by any created thing and that includes our own doubt. Even in a longtime Christian, doubt can creep in and make them have doubts about their salvation.  This is the work of the enemy for God gives us peace through Jesus’ death (Rom.5:1). When you doubt, and it is possible, read this and other marvelous encouraging Scriptures. God loves us, and when He saves us, we are saved forever! Once saved, always saved! When we have eternal life . . . we have it forever!
http://www.hisservants.org/once_saved,_always_saved_h_s.htm

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV)  . . . We are declared righteous in His sight because Jesus became sin for us so that we “might be made the righteousness of God.”  When we repent and confess our sin to Him, He forgives us!

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (KJV)
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (KJV)  . . . Many people quote this verse, but they quote only the first part. The last part is the important part, for it sets aside this marvelous blessing, for God’s children, NOT unbelievers! Only by divine knowledge given to us by God, can we know that ALL things work together for good, to those God has called. God works in “all things” . . . not just some things . . . for our good!
Please understand . . . this does NOT mean that ALL that happens to us is good, for this is not so. Evil dominates our fallen world, BUT, God is well able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good. Also please realize that God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill His purpose. And please remember that this Promise is NOT for everyone. It belongs only to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. The “called” are those the Holy Spirit wins over to Christ. These believers have a new outlook and a new mind-set on life. They trust God, NOT this world’s treasures and pleasures. They look for their security in Heaven, NOT here on Earth; and they learn to accept pain and persecution because God walks with them through it all, giving comfort and encouragement. Trust God!

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (KJV) . . .  Casting all your care upon him . . . God loves us! Jesus loves us! He wants to help us in our daily lives. Your care . . . means all kinds of things which concern this life on Earth, cares that may cut and divide your hearts, and be grievous and tormenting to you. Cast these cares upon Him! And whatever you do, do not stop and doubt and grab those cares back again. Let God help with them. For he careth for you . . . God love us and is concerned about His people, and really does care what happens to us. NO good thing will God withhold from us (Ps. 84:11; Phil. 4:6). The eyes of the Lord are always watching us: (Ps.11:4; 33:18; 34:15; Pro.5:21; 15:3; 16:2; 20:12; 22:12; Am.9:8; Zec.4:10; 1 Pet.3:12) Place all your worries into God's mighty Hand! AND leave them there! We must trust that God will take care of us in EVERY situation. Jesus teaches about this in Matthew 6:25-34.

Hebrews 13:5  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV) . . . Let yourlifestyle, your conduct (Phil.1:27), be without covetousness. Covetousness is greed! It is an excessive desire for riches, a deep yearning for things of the world, accompanied with dissatisfaction and discontent with what they have. Be without covetousness (Eph.5:3; Col.3:5).
And be to content with such things as ye have . . . (Phil.4:11-12; May 6:25). The precise reason given here for contentment is, that God has promised never to leave His people.
For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee . . . nearly the same expression is found in several Scriptures, and all of them contain the same principle on which the writer here relies, that God will NOT forsake His people. I will never leave thee: (Gen.28:15; Deut.31:6,8; Josh.1:5; 1 Chron.28:20; Ps.37:28; 41:10; Isa.41:10,17).

2 Cor. 5:6-8  Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (KJV) . . . We must always remember that the soul does not die. The soul NEVER dies, but goes to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is ONLY the body that is put to sleep (dies). It is ONLY the body that must be changed in order to gain access to Heaven. We must also remember that there will be a certain generation that will NOT go through death, but their bodies will still need to be changed, to be fitted for the glory of Heaven.
1 Thes. 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. (KJV)
1 Cor.15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52  In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (KJV)
It is the body that goes to sleep and it is the body that is raised. Resurrection does not refer to the soul or the spirit.
Paul was not afraid to die because he was confident of spending eternity with Christ. Facing the unknown may cause us anxiety, and leaving loved ones behind hurts deeply, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, we can share Paul's hope and confidence of eternal life with Christ. Death is only the first step to eternal life with God. We will continue to live. May this blessed hope (Tit.2:13) give you confidence and inspire you to serve the Lord Jesus faithfully.
Absent from the body, . . . . present with the Lord  . . . Paul had no idea of a Heaven where the Lord Jesus would not be, so to be with Jesus was to be in Heaven. This also proves that the spirits of the saints, when they die, are with the Lord, meaning they are taken at once to Heaven.
This proves:
#1. They are NOT annihilated.
#2. They do NOT sleep, and remain in an unconscious state, as some suppose.
#3. They are NOT in some intermediate state, either in purgatory, as the Catholics falsely teach, or a state where all the souls of the just and the unjust are assembled in a common abode, as many Protestants have supposed (Lk.16:23).
#4. They dwell WITH Christ; they are WITH the Lord! They abide in His Presence; they partake of His joy and His glory; they are permitted to sit with Him in His throne (Rev.3:21). The same idea the Saviour expressed to the dying thief, when Jesus said: Today shalt thou be with me in paradise, (Lk.23:43).

Ten facts about TRUE Christians:
1. They have not yet received all that God has promised.
2. They can by faith, clearly see the promised blessings.
3. They are convinced the Promises are true.
4. They believe and embrace all the Promises.
5. They confess that they are strangers on Earth.
6. They confess that they are only pilgrims on Earth.
7. They state that they seek Heaven.
8. They are not mindful of earthly things.
9. They are not willing to go back to the world.
10. They desire a heavenly country.

The TRUE Christian has:
#1. The Promise of eternal life in Heaven.
#2. The assurance that sudden death CANNOT deprive him of it.
#3. He has the assurance that when obtained, it shall be an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you (1 Pet.1:4).
