Do You Really Want More Faith?

How often do pray and ask God for more faith?  I think it is very wise for Christians to ask God to increase their faith (Lk.17:5). I ask God to increase my faith quite often. Most believers are very familiar with: Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (KJV)
Faith pleases God! Faith means that you trust God. It makes sense that we should pray for a continued and stronger faith if we want to please God. I think that most believers want a more reliant and stronger faith. But, sad to say, most believers do not understand how faith works. I have been saved for over 45 years. I did not learn the truth of how faith works over night! As a baby Christian (1 Jn.2:12), I did not understand that hardships are allowed by God to strengthen us.

Some Truths about FAITH

*****#1. You do not need much faith to be saved nor to get your prayers answered. The Bible speaks of having “childlike faith” (Mat.18:1-5) to be saved and “faith as a grain of mustard-seed” (Mat.17:2) to move mountains. To be saved, we do not need a truck-load of faith, we simply need faith. Any amount of sincere faith in the Lord Jesus Christ brings salvation. Being hopeful is not faith. Good works is not faith. Church membership is not faith. Water baptism is NOT faith. A person needs “just enough” faith to call upon the Name of the Lord (Rom.10:13).
*****#2. Unshakable faith can come only when your faith has been shaken. When our faith save us, trials and testing of our faith starts. Jesus said to His apostles, “Oh ye of little faith” (Mat.6:30; 8:26; Mk.16:8; Lk.12:28). They had NO idea of the hardships and persecutions which were to follow. It would be those trials that would reinforce and strengthen their faith. It was empowered faith that enabled Peter to preach mightily at Pentecost. It was this faith that prepared John for the island of Patmos, where he wrote the book of Revelation. It was this faith that allowed Peter and Silas to sing praises in prison while their feet were bound in shackles. If our faith is to grow, it must go through hardships and trials. There is NO other way.
*****#3. Problems in your life are worth more than pots full of gold. YES! What we consider bad things that happen to us are far more valuable than worldly wealth! 1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: (KJV)
Dear friend, problems are a part of life. We must deal with them. John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (KJV)
How strong your faith is, decides how you respond to life's difficulties. For a believer to turn to the liquor or drugs is a lack of faith in God. For a believer to consider suicide is a lack of faith in God. May we all learn to rejoice in the Lord, even in the worst of circumstances. YES! We all get discouraged at times, but, a believer’s hardships are wonderful opportunities for us to reveal our faith in God. There is a sweet fellowship with God that CANNOT be had until we have suffered great emotional and/or physical pain and loss, having Jesus by our side through it all (Heb.13:5). Degrees of faith are NOT taught in the Bible. Either you had faith or you didn't

Consider that in the book of Esther, God is NOT mentioned even once. BUT . . . although God is not even mentioned, we can clearly SEE God working all through the Book. We must NEVER forget, that even though we cannot SEE the Hand of God, we must TRUST the Promises of God, for He cannot lie (Tit.1:2) and He does not chance (Mal.3:6)! I thank the Spirit of Christ (Rom.8:9) for teaching me this wonderful Truth.  Thank You Jesus!
