God CANNOT Lie!
How can I have a personal relationship with God?
In the beginning of human history, Adam and Eve enjoyed a personal relationship with God (Gen.2). But the devil stepped in and because of sin this fantastic relationship was broken. Since that time, all of humanity now is born with a sin nature and lives separated from God (Ps.58:3; Isa.48:8). Is there a way we can be forgiven of our sin and restored to personal relationship with God? Yes! Absolutely!
Many think of salvation, or accepting Jesus as Saviour, as simply a way to get to Heaven, which it is. But dear one, salvation is so much more . . . it is how we can have a personal relationship with God, an amazing fellowship with Almighty God and His only begotten Son (John 3:16). This is something that this wicked world simply cannot offer, even though the devil certainly does try . . . and succeeds by winning millions over to his side! Resist him my friend (James 4:7).
We start our relationship with God by receiving His only begotten Son Jesus, by believing that He IS God and that He paid the full penalty for our sins to restore us to relationship with Him (John 1:12; Rom.10:9). We believe and accept Jesus' death as a substitution for the penalty we should have paid for sin (Rom.3:23; 6:23; Heb.10:10), and His resurrection as victory over sin and death (1 Cor.15:54-57). When we do this in sincerity, we are granted eternal life (John 3:16).
Eternal life is all about quality! What we receive from Jesus is not only Heaven, but true life (John 10:10). Peter speaks of the joy of salvation. 1 Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: (KJV) . . . When we begin a relationship with God, we are not to let it lie in ruins like a deserted parcel of land, we are to nurture it, cultivate it and treasure it. God's Spirit lives within us (John 14:15-17), and He lovingly teaches us Truth (John 16:13), producing in us the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy and peace, etc. Gal.5:22-23), enabling us to use our abilities to help others (Eph.2:10; 4:12-13), and helps us to live as salt and light in a world of darkness (Mat.5:14-16). A personal relationship with God changes our lives now and for the rest of eternity.
We start a personal relationship with God through faith, which is also a fruit of the Spirit. We must realize that we are dead in our sin and only Christ can save us and restore us to fellowship with God (Eph.2:1-5; Col.2:13). Eph.2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (KJV) . . . We do NOT earn or purchase our relationship with God; we receive it as a free gift (Rom.6:23).
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (KJV) . . . God FREELY offers forgiveness and fellowship; we simply must accept it.
Are you willing to believe God (1 John 5:10-13), and place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Saviour? This is the ONLY way to receive the free gift of eternal life! If you have not done so, you can do it right now, wherever you are! There is no special prayer you must pray to do so.
You simply must realize and admit that you are a sinner, and that you could never reach Heaven on your own. Just ask Him to forgive you of your sins and help you live as you should, and lastly, thank Him for accepting uou into His family and giving you eternal life.
