WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BELIEVE?
You may know that God’s love and grace are limitless even if you are not a ‘believer,’ but you may not know that unless you believe on the Name of Jesus, God’s Son, as your personal Saviour and Lord, you will never experience that love or that grace, in the salvation of your soul.
To believe means you know you cannot save yourself.
To believe means that you know that salvation is through Christ alone, and only He can save you. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. [KJV]
To believe means that if you want to go to Heaven, you must go through Christ. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [KJV] . . . Heaven is where the Father is.
To believe means you know Christ is who He says He is, and will do what He said He will do.
To believe means you accept what Christ did on the cross; redeeming your soul from Hell and God’s wrath, and completely forgiving you.
To believe means you must have a personal relationship with Christ; trusting Him as your loyal Friend and Guide in all things.
To believe means you know you must obey Christ. John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. [KJV] . . . DO YOU BELIEVE?
“Born again” is a term simply scoffed at by millions of people world-wide. But, in their ridicule, these people are actually blaspheming God, for it is none other than Almighty God, Christ Jesus the Son, who so very plainly declares “Ye must be born again.”
“Born again” describes what takes place when a person accepts Christ Jesus as his or her personal Saviour. Basically, a person becomes spiritually reborn at the precise moment of accepting Christ. We escape spiritual death (everlasting destruction in Hell) and receive eternal life in God’s Home (Heaven). http://www.hisservants.org/death_then_what_1.1.htm
“Born again” is a gift from God. It means we are welcomed into the family of God when we accept Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord (1 John 3:1). It means we are literally reborn spiritually, by receiving new life from God. Only by faith in Christ, does this new birth change us, from the inside out. It rearranges our attitudes, our desires, and our motives. Being born makes you physically alive and places you in your parents’ family. Being “born of God” makes you spiritually alive and puts you in God’s family (John 1:12-13).
Are you “born again”? Are you in the family of God? IF you have believed on His Name, and received Him into your heart, you are “born again.” IF not, ask Christ to come into your life this day and make you a new person. This fresh start in life is available to “whosoever” will believe in Christ (John 3:16).
Why It Must Be
Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. (KJV) This verse tells us we are born to sin! We cannot be God’s child because of that original sin within us. We must be “born again” spiritually, into God’s family. Those that truly repent (turn and go the other way) of their sins, will never be ashamed of their repentance. We must flee to God’s infinite grace and mercy (only through Jesus), and depend upon that alone for pardon and peace.
We must humble ourselves and beg for pardon of our sin. Only the Blood of Christ can blot out our transgression and reconcile us to God (Romans 5:1-9). True believers hunger and crave to have the total debt of our sins blotted out, and every stain cleansed. Believers desire to be thoroughly washed from all our sins, while the hypocrite always has some secret ‘sin’ reserve, and wants to have some favorite lust spared, something they simply cannot give up. To be “born again” we must be truly sorry in our heart for all our depravity (evil).
Isaiah 48:8 Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. (KJV) . . . We all are born children of disobedience. Where original sin is, actual sin will follow. Every person is a witness to this, and to the Truth of Scripture. Our guilt is aggravated by our basic, natural sinfulness, which is contrary to God's requirement of inward purity.
Psalm 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. (KJV) . . . This describes the wicked (those without Jesus) in general. It includes ALL mankind BEFORE they are “born again.” They sin naturally, easily, maliciously, willingly and so very stubbornly. Their nature is corrupted from day one, and is the root of bitterness. We ALL are born with Adam’s original sin against us! We must be justified by the Blood of Jesus (Romans 5:1).
I am here to tell you that it is a false doctrine that all people are God’s children. All people can become God’s children, if they so desire; for I truly believe that God calls everyone, but only a “few” even hear His call, let alone ever respond to Jesus.
God is pure, just and righteous. He cannot stand to look on sin, any sin, (big or little in our eyes). We as little children are “estranged” from God from our mother’s womb, because of original sin. “Original sin” refers to the first transgression mankind ever committed, when Adam and Eve took and ate fruit from the tree that God had forbidden them to touch.
“The wicked” (sinners, those without Jesus, unbelievers) go wrong all their lives; telling lies from the day they are born. The Bible clearly identifies sin as a very serious problem. Sin is not just an act or deed, but the actual nature of our being, starting deep within us, in our hearts. We are not sinners because we sin, but we sin because we are sinners! We are born with a nature to do wrong. Because we are born sinners, sin comes to all of us naturally.
Psalm 58:3 states we go astray as soon as we are born, speaking lies. How true this is! How soon it is that a little child learns to speak lies. They go astray from God and their parents so quickly! It’s like a poison within.
Some people teach: “The answer to all of life’s problems is within.” The answer does NOT come from within; it is the problem that is within us.
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (KJV) . . . The human heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. The plain truth is; we are NOT basically good . . . we are basically bad (sinful)! And this sinfulness pours out of us into everything we do. Nearly every problem we have comes from our stubborn refusal to live God’s way. Adam made his choice (a wrong one), and he suffered for it. He set the pattern that all humanity would follow. When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam’s sin brought death, and death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. No one is exempt! (Romans 3:10, 23; 5:12, 18).
Adam’s sin condemned everyone. Is it fair? Should we suffer because of what Adam did? But, think about it; if the opportunity were before us, each one of us would have done the same thing Adam did, for not a single day passes that we do not face the same sort of test that was set before Adam, a choice between right and wrong! The right choice leads to life and the wrong choice leads to death.
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: (KJV) . . . God has given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. He wants you to make the right decision.
Do you live a good life? Are you kind and considerate to others? Do you live by the Ten Commandments? The law was not given to make us good but to show us just how bad we are.
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. (KJV) . . . NO one is made right in God's eyes by doing what the Law requires. What the Law does, is to make us see that we have sinned. The purpose of the law is to make us realize how sinful we really are. It shows us that we desperately need His help and forgiveness, for without it, we are doomed to Hell. The Law is our schoolmaster!
Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (KJV)
1. We All Have Missed the Mark
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: [KJV] . . . Righteous means good, without sin, the way we ought to be! When God says that no one is righteous or good, He doesn’t mean our behavior, He means our inner character.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [KJV] . . . We ALL have sinned. If anyone claims to be exempt from this Truth; read on!
How do we “come short of the glory of God”? His “glorious standard” is absolute perfection. Are you perfect? I surely am not! Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. [KJV]
Anyone who is not as good as God is not acceptable to Him, because He CANNOT look on sin. One definition of sin, is to “miss the mark.” I miss that mark every day. Our sinful nature makes it impossible for us to live up to God’s standard, without being “born again.”
2. Sin Is a Deliberate Act.
Ephesians 2:1-3 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. (KJV) . . .
All of us used to live by following the passions and desires of our evil nature. We all were born with an evil nature, and we were under God's anger just like everyone else. Sin is transgressions or trespasses against a pure and holy God. To transgress means we turn away from truth. In contrast to missing the mark, this is a deliberate rebellious action. Because sin is a deliberate action (by choice) on our part, we cannot blame it on society, environment, our mental or physical state, or someone else. IF you do something wrong, you are responsible; for you, and only you, made that decision to do wrong.
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [KJV] Don’t try to fool yourself! You are a sinner! And only the Blood of Jesus can justify you in God’s eyes.
3. The Ultimate Penalty for Sin Is Death
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. [KJV] . . . When we sin, we have offended a pure and Holy God. We have not done this once or twice, but many times!
“The wages of sin is death.” Wages are something that you are paid for work you do. In other words, you EARN your wages. Because we ALL have repeatedly sinned, we have EARNED the penalty of death, which is eternal torment and punishment in a place called Hell.
Is there any good news? YES! God has given us a way to escape the penalty of our sin. He has made it possible for us to have a relationship with Him and enjoy the hope of eternal life without punishment, and that is being “born again.”
In summary, we all are on that wide road bound for Hell, unless we admit that God is right and we are wrong. We are sinners and actually God’s enemies (Romans 5:10). We must humble ourselves before a pure and Holy God and there a big problem arises! Far too many people will not cast off their pride and humble themselves. But, unless you do, you can never be “born again” into the family of God.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. (KJV) Pride implies self-confidence, and my friend, you can do nothing on your own to place yourself into God’s family. Only Jesus has the power to cause you to be spiritually “born again” into God’s family.
How it Happens
John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (KJV)
As I stated in Chapter 1, we cannot gain access to God or Heaven (God’s home), unless we are “born again” spiritually into God’s family. And, actually this is a very easy process! God did NOT make it hard because He would like everyone to be His child. It is done by simply believing, in faith, what God says about His only begotten Son. And to all who believe in Jesus and accept Him, Jesus has the “power” to make us children of God. We are reborn, NOT physically, but spiritually! This birth does not result from any human passion or plan; this rebirth can come only from God. Again, we do NOT become God’s children by any natural means such as being born children of a human father; for Almighty God Himself is our Father when we are “born again.”
Only those who receive Jesus and believe in Him; can ever become God’s children. There are false teachings in many ‘churches’ today that say ALL people are God’s children. This is absolutely FALSE according to God’s Holy Word. It is “commandments of men” which Jesus strictly prohibits and condemns. Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. [KJV]
John 1:12-13 clearly tell us HOW to become a child of God, HOW to be “born again.” We can NEVER become God’s children by natural means or any works we do. Being born as children of a human father will NEVER place us into the family of God! According to these verses, only Christ Jesus has the “power” to make us God’s children. So, IF a person refuses to believe in Jesus, and rejects Him as Saviour and Lord, they are doomed to the pits of Hell. Only God Himself can be our spiritual Father, through belief in His only begotten Son.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. [KJV] . . . The “kingdom of God” is personal, not national or reserved just for a certain group or nation. The requirements to enter are repentance and spiritual rebirth. Jesus revealed to Nicodemus that the kingdom would come to the whole world, not just the Jews, and that Nicodemus wouldn’t be a part of it unless he was personally “born again.”
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV) . . . “Whosoever” is a wonderful word! My friend, it means you, and it means me! To “believe” is more than to say that Jesus did or does exist and even to agree that Jesus is God. It means to put our total trust and confidence in Him that He alone can save us. It is to commit your life to Him and to put Christ in charge of your present plans and eternal destiny. “Believing” is trusting His Words completely because you know they are reliable, and to rely on Him for the power to change.
“Whosoever” means anyone who humbles themselves before Almighty God! It means we realize we cannot save ourselves. We need Jesus! It means anyone, red, yellow, black or white. God loves ALL people. He made us all and He would like to have us all for His children.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (KJV) . . . IF only a spiritual nature can see and enter the kingdom of God; what happens to those who are NOT “born again”? “Ye must” Jesus states! “Ye” is you! It is a personal thing! IF you are not “born again” there is only one other place for your eternal soul to go, and that is Hell. Your soul will go to Heaven OR Hell! John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (KJV) . . . Whosoever believes in Christ, shall NOT perish (in Hell), but shall have everlasting life (in Heaven). There is NO salvation in any other (Acts 4:12). IF a person does NOT believe in Christ, he or she is condemned. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [KJV] . . . “Condemned” is judged to Hell!
Great is the sin of unbelievers! God sent only One to save us, and that One was very dear to Him; and He should be just as dear to us as well! Great is the misery of unbelievers! They are condemned already, for the wrath of God rests upon them; and it is their own sinful hearts that condemn them. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (KJV)
Unbelief is a sin against the only Remedy that can save them. Unbelief comes from the rebellious resentment of man’s heart to God, from their love of sin. Sin is the works of darkness, and it is only the Light of Jesus that can save them; but the wicked stay as far from this Light as they can, lest their deeds should be criticized. Christ is actually hated, because sin is so well loved.
Regeneration, or the new birth (born again), is something to which the world is very opposed, simply as stated above, because people do not desire to forsake their sins.
John 3:5-6 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (KJV)
Birth is the beginning of life; to be “born again” is to begin to live a new life under the control of the Holy Spirit. We must have a new nature, new beliefs, new devotion, new goals. Before our rebirth, we were corrupt, evil and sinful; so we must be made new creatures in order to please God. Our condition and character simply must change, or we are NOT God’s children. We must be entirely different from what we were before, we cannot be the same as we were before, or we are NOT “born again.” Something is done in us, and for us, that we cannot do for ourselves. Something was wrong with our lives that must be corrected, IF we are to have a life in Heaven that shall last for ever. We must accept and expect benefits from Christ, for He is the Author of this blessed change that takes place in us. It is NOT brought on by any wisdom or power of our own, but by the power of the blessed Holy Spirit. Since we were “shapen in iniquity,” it is absolutely necessary that our total nature be changed.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (KJV) . . . The water (John 3:5) represents the cleansing action of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit. We do not enter the kingdom by living a better life, but by being spiritually reborn. The necessity and nature of regeneration (or our new birth), is the source of holiness in our heart.
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (KJV) . . . Our new birth begins with an “incorruptible” seed, the abiding Word of God. We are “born again” of the Spirit, through the Word of God. God’s Word has a mysterious germinating power. Because the Spirit of God accompanies God’s Word, it carries in it the seed of life. All who are reborn live and abide for ever, a life in God, communicated to us through His Holy Word.
Sealed by the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (KJV) It is only by the renewing of the Holy Ghost that we are made members of Christ’s body. All members should be closely united by strong bonds of love; and the good of the whole body (church) should be the intention of all of us. All Christians should depend on each other. All TRUE believers have one thing in common; faith in Christ. It is on this basic truth that the church finds unity. All believers are baptized by the same Holy Spirit into one body of believers, the church. We do not lose our individual identities, but we do have a oneness in Christ. When a person becomes “born again,” the Holy Spirit comes to reside within. That same Holy Spirit fills our innermost being with His awesome Presence.
2 Corinthians 1:22-23 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. (KJV) . . . The Holy Spirit makes believers firm in the faith of the Gospel. The quickening of the Spirit is an “earnest” (down payment) on everlasting life; and the amazing comforts of the Spirit are an “earnest” of everlasting joy. Our strength and ability are owed to our faith; for our comfort and joy surely does flow from faith.
God gives us two gifts when we become believers: (1.) a seal of ownership showing who our Master is, and (2.) the Holy Spirit, who guarantees that we belong to Him and will receive all His benefits. The Holy Spirit guarantees that salvation is ours, and that we will receive so much more when Christ returns. The great comfort and power the Holy Spirit gives in this life is just a foretaste or down payment (“deposit”) of the tremendous benefits of our eternal life in God’s Presence.
God gives us the ability to stand firm in Christ, and He also anoints (consecrates or sanctifies) us to be His children and His servants. It is indeed a great privilege of belonging to God, but it also entails a great responsibility; that of showing ourselves to be His faithful servants. Don’t ever be ashamed to let others know that you belong to Christ! Believe me, you do NOT want Christ to ever be ashamed of you (Luke 9:26).
Being “sealed” assures us we are the possession or property of God. Being “sealed” "stablisheth us" (2 Cor. 1:21; 1 Cor. 9:2). The Spirit is the “earnest” in our hearts. Earnest is money given by a purchaser as a pledge for the full payment of the sum promised. In other words, what God has purchased (believers), He intends to keep, and pay all He has promised (eternal life in Heaven). So, the Holy Spirit is given to believers simply as a first instalment to assure us we will receive our full inheritance as a child of God.
And, my friend, once the Holy Spirit comes to reside in your heart, He is there to stay --- forever (John 14:16; 2 John 2). God does NOT give us His Spirit, then when we sin, swoop Him away from us again. Once He comes, He stays! He is with us “forever.”
Romans 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. (KJV) . . . Although we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of what is to come, we wait anxiously for that day when God will give us our full rights as His children, including the new bodies he has promised us. Receiving the Holy Spirit is God’s pledge to us as the fulfillment of all His Promises.
Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. (KJV) . . . The Holy Spirit is God’s seal that we belong to Him, thus guaranteeing that He will do what He has promised. The Holy Spirit is like a down payment, a deposit, like God’s signature on a contract. The Presence of the Holy Spirit within us demonstrates our faith is real, and proves that we are God’s children, and secures eternal life for us. His awesome power transforms us now, and what we experience now is a taste of the complete change we will experience later in eternity.
God’s people are purchased as His possessions by the Blood of Christ (Acts 20:28).
Any time we pay a high price for something, as God the Father did for us, we value it dearly. So too, God truly does value His Church (Eph. 5:25-26; 1 Peter 1:18; 2:9).
The sanctifying and comforting influences of the Holy Spirit seals believers as God’s children, and heirs of Heaven. And these are but the first-fruits of our holy happiness and joy.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (KJV) . . . Just how do we “grieve” the Holy Spirit? All lying, gossip, and corrupt communications that stir up evil desires and lusts grieve the Spirit of God. Corrupt passions of bitterness, wrath, anger, disorder, evil-speaking and malice, also grieve the Holy Spirit. We should never provoke the Holy and Blessed Spirit of God. “Grieve not” could be compared to “vexed His Holy Spirit” (Isaiah 63:10; Psalm 78:40); “fretted me” (Eze.16:43): and of hardened unbelievers, “resist the Holy Ghost” (Acts 7:51). Ephesians 4:30 refers to believers, who grieve the Holy Spirit by a corrupt or worthless lifestyle.
The Holy Spirit is the element in which the believer is sealed, for His gracious influence and Presence is the seal itself. Our soul is kept safely until the day of redemption, (or the completion of redemption, when our body, as well as our soul, will be delivered from all sin and sorrow).
It is only by Christ that God forgives us and makes us His child. Are you “born again”?
The word regeneration is found only in Matthew 19:28 and Titus 3:5. In Matthew 19:28 the word means the “restitution of all things” (Acts 3:21). In Titus 3:5 this word literally means a “new birth.”
It implies the change of heart spoken elsewhere of as a passing from death to life.
1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. (KJV)
It means becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
It means being born again. John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (KJV)
It means a renewal of the mind. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (KJV)
It means a resurrection from the dead. Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (KJV)
It means being quickened (revitalized, activated, made alive). Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; (KJV) Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) (KJV) . . . Without Jesus, we clearly are “dead” in our sins! We are on that wide slippery road, headed and doomed to Hell. We need Jesus and His Spirit to make us alive in Christ, for it is only by the amazing grace of God that we are saved.
This change (new life, born again) is credited to the Holy Spirit. It originates not with mankind, but with God (John 1:12-13; 1 John 2:29; 5:1, 4). How does this come about? It consists of implanting a new belief, a new disposition in our heart and soul. The Holy Spirit imparts (gives) a spiritual life to those who are by nature “dead in trespasses and sins.” Is this necessary? God plainly tells us in His Holy Word that it is (John 3:3; Romans 7:18; 8:7-9; 1 Cor. 2:14; Ephes. 2:1; 4:21-24).
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (KJV) . . . Paul gives us a ‘nutshell’ idea of what Christ Jesus does for us when He saves us; when He uses His power to make us God’s children. We go from a life full of sin to one where we are led by God’s Holy Spirit.
All our sins, not just some, are washed away, completely! Washing refers to the Holy Word of God as a purifying agent and the cleansing power of the Holy Ghost. We must first hear the Word of God (Romans 10:13-17), to be cleansed by it (John 3:5; 15:3; 17:17). That is why it is so extremely important to tell others when you are saved.
In becoming “born again” the believer acknowledges Christ as Saviour and Lord and admits and endorses Christ’s saving work. It is only then that we gain eternal life with all its treasures (Mat. 6:19-21). We have renewal by the Holy Spirit, and He continually renews our hearts, day after day. None of this happens because we earned it, or deserved it; it is God’s unequaled gift to us. All three persons of the Trinity are instrumental in our regeneration, because all three participate in the work of our salvation. Based upon the redemptive work of Jesus, His Son, the Father forgives us and sends the Holy Spirit to wash away our sins and continually renew us. How privileged we are!
We are delivered out of our miserable condition only by the mercy and grace of God. Love and grace have, through the Spirit, great power to change and turn the heart to God. Most people think they will go to Heaven, yet they never consider God or holiness. I don’t understand how they think they could have the end without the beginning.
The work of regeneration is inward and spiritual. The Worker within us is the Spirit of God; and it is He that renews our innermost being (inner man Eph. 3:16). It is only through Him that we can subdue sin, serve God and others, and walk in God’s will and ways.
All the work of the Divine life within us, all the fruits of righteousness we do are possible only through the blessed and Holy Spirit of God. The Spirit, and His essential gifts and graces, come only when we are “born again” or regenerated. And it is only through Christ, as a Saviour, that this is possible.
When we are born again, we are justified (Rom.5:1). When the Bible speaks of justification, it means the free forgiveness of a sinner. It means God accepts us as righteous because we accepted Jesus; and Jesus’ righteousness is poured out on us because we have received and accepted Him by faith. Justification cannot be earned by the sinner. Eternal life is then given to us (John 5:24). The Spirit works faith in us, giving us hope of that life; also peace and joy in looking forward to it.
The way to Heaven is a narrow way; and the gate that leads into it is a strait (difficult) gate; especially to proud and arrogant people, also to rich people. Pride keeps people from humbling themselves before God and admitting that He is right and they are wrong. Rich people have great difficulty in giving God His rightful place (#1). They set their hearts on their riches, their possessions, their fame and their power. Jesus tells us that every one who has forsaken possessions or comforts, for His sake and the Gospel, will one day be rewarded (Mat. 19:29; 1 Peter 1:4). May God grant us faith to rest our hope on His Promise.
How it occurs. John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (KJV) . . . We have already discussed these verses in chapter 2.
1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. (KJV) . . . No one who is born of God will continue to sin, meaning that true believers do not make a PRACTICE of sinning, and they are NOT indifferent to God’s Word. ALL believers still sin (Rom.7:16-25), but they strive to gain victory over sin. “God’s seed remains in him” means that true believers do not PRACTICE sin, because God’s new life has been born into them. We are “born of God” when the Holy Spirit lives in us and gives us Jesus’ new life. Being born again is a rebirth, when we receive a new family name (Christian). God forgives us and accepts us; the Holy Spirit gives us new minds and hearts, lives in us, and begins helping us to become like Christ. A person who is truly regenerated cannot sin as he did before we are born of God! It is NOT possible! The Holy Spirit shows us the evil and fatality of sin. Being born again and purposeful sinning do not mix! We cannot willfully sin, because it is God Himself who lives within us. Sin will be ever active in this life, but it no longer rules our lives.
A gift from God. John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (KJV) . . . We can never control the work of God’s Holy Spirit. He works in ways we cannot predict or understand. You did not control your physical birth, and you cannot control your spiritual birth. It is a gift from God through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:16; 1 Cor. 2:10-12; 1 Thes. 1:5-6).
Eternal life begins at. John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (KJV) . . . Jesus says that those who believe in Him have (NOW) everlasting life. To receive eternal life is to join in God’s life, which by nature is eternal. Eternal life begins the moment of your spiritual rebirth.
Comes only through Christ. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [KJV] Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. [KJV]
A “new” person. Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV)
Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (KJV) . . . Our old self, before Christ, is completely past. This is both a once and for all decision but also a daily commitment. Our corrupt nature is gone, for the new nature enables us to lead a new life of righteousness and holiness. This is done by God’s almighty power.
Sinful desires gone. Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. (KJV) . . . We will still have sinful desires at times. We need to turn from our sins and willingly nail our sinful nature to the cross. We will still have the capacity to sin, but we have been set free from sin’s power over us; and we no longer have to give in to it. We must daily commit our sinful tendencies to God’s control, and crucify them (Galatians 2:20; 6:14).
We must ask God to “fill” us with His Spirit daily. Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; (KJV) . . . IF we are filled to the brim with God’s Spirit, there will be no room for sin or Satan to step in.
Brings forces of evil against us. Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV) . . . In our regenerated life, we do not fight against human beings, but against wicked spiritual forces (Satan and his demons). They are powerful evil forces (1 Peter 5:8). To withstand these attacks, we must depend completely on God’s strength and use every piece of armor He makes available to us (Eph. 6:13-18). We need to be armed if we expect to do battle against “the rulers of darkness.” We face an extremely powerful army whose goal is to defeat Christ and His church. When we are born again, these beings become our enemies, and they will do everything possible to turn us away from Jesus and back to sin. We need supernatural power to defeat Satan, and God has provided this by giving us His Holy Spirit within us and His armor to surround us.
Privileges that come from. Hebrews 10:22-25 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (KJV) . . . We have remarkable privileges associated with our new life in Christ: (1.) we have personal access to God through Christ, and can draw near to Him any time of the day or night, (2.) we can grow in faith, overcoming doubts and questions, (3.) we can deepen our relationship with God, (4.) we can enjoy encouragement from one another, (5.) we can worship together. Let us encourage each other for we know that the Day of the Lord is drawing near.
We can’t inherit it. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [KJV] . . . We must go through Jesus IF we intend to go to Heaven (the Father’s home). Salvation is an extremely personal, One on one relationship. Just because your mother or father was a believer in Christ, does NOT mean you are too. Salvation (eternal life in Heaven) is NOT inherited. NO man (or woman) gets to the Father except through Jesus!
Jesus the only Way to. Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (KJV) . . . The gate that leads to eternal life is called “strait,” meaning difficult. This does NOT mean it is difficult to become a Christian; it means there is ONLY ONE WAY to live eternally with God and ONLY A FEW ever decide to walk that road. Belief in Jesus is the only way to Heaven, because He and He alone died for our sins and made us right before God. Living His way may not be popular today, but IF you ever want to see those pearly gates and street of gold, only Jesus has the key.
Knowing about Jesus is not enough. Mark 3:11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. (KJV) . . . Even evil spirits know that Jesus is the Son of God, but that does NOT give them eternal life. If you know about Jesus, that’s great; or even believing that He is God’s Son, that is even better . . . BUT that alone does NOT guarantee salvation. You must also love Him and trust Him as your Saviour and have a deep down desire to follow and obey Him.
Jesus’ doing, not ours. 1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: (KJV) . . . God is the Source and Reason of our personal relationship with Christ Jesus. When we are united with Him (born again), we are also identified with Him; and that results in: having wisdom and knowledge (Col. 2:3), possessing a right standing with God (2 Cor. 5:21), holiness (1 Thes.4:3-7) and having the full penalty for our sins paid by Jesus (Mark 10:45).
How to receive it. John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (KJV) . . . How do we receive eternal life? Jesus tells us! We must know God the Father through His Son, Jesus Christ. Eternal life requires that we have a personal relationship with God in Jesus Christ. Admitting we are sinners, and turning away from it (repenting), brings Christ’s love in us by the Holy Spirit.
God wants all to be saved. 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (KJV) I really do believe that God offers salvation to everyone. But the longer I study God’s Word, the more I realize that Jesus words are so true! He plainly states in Mat. 7:14 “few there be that find it.” Eternal life IS available to everyone! It is available to “Whosoever”! But so many simply refuse to believe God (1 John 5:10-12), and keep rejecting the only One who can save their soul (John 3:15-16).
When is there no hope for? Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? (KJV) . . . Those who despise and reject Christ, the only Saviour; also despise and resist the Holy Spirit, the only Sanctifier. They also despise and disown the Gospel, the only way of salvation, and the only words that could lead them to eternal life. God gives unbelieving sinners many chances, but eventually He will give up on them. What punishment can be worse than to die without mercy? It’s a fearful day when not only God’s justice, but also His violated grace and mercy call for vengeance!
Souls who sorrow for their sin will NOT be shut out from God’s awesome mercy, nor will they be refused the benefit of Christ’s Perfect Sacrifice. No matter what you have done in the past, IF you repent and mourn for your sin, God can and will forgive you when you turn to Jesus. Him that cometh unto Christ, He will in no wise cast out! John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. (KJV)
John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. (KJV)
Romans 3:23 Everyone has sinned.
Romans 6:23 The penalty for our sin is death.
Romans 5:8 Jesus Christ died for sin.
Romans 10:8-10 To be forgiven for our sin, we must believe and confess that Jesus is Lord. Salvation comes ONLY through Jesus Christ.
WHAT GOD HAS DONE ABOUT SIN
He has given us new life.
Romans 6:2-3 Sin’s power is broken.
Romans 6:4 Sin-loving nature is buried.
Romans 6:6 We are no longer sin’s slave.
He has given us a new nature.
Romans 6:5 Now we share His life.
Romans 6:11 Our old self is dead; we are now alive to God.
We do not have to give in to the old power, we’re alive to the new.
He has given us new freedom.
Romans 6:12 Sin no longer controls us.
Romans 6:13 We belong completely to God.
Romans 6:14 We are free.
Romans 6:16 We can choose our own master.
Our commitment to Christ gives perfect freedom.
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH
False: Please God by our own good deeds.
True: Trust in Christ Jesus alone.
False: Religious rites and ceremonies, diligent service, discipline, and obedience, in hope of reward.
True: Repent, confess, submit, and commit yourself to Christ’s control.
False: Moral, honest effort by self-determination. True: Holy Spirit changes us and helps us do good work for Christ’s kingdom.
False: Self-motivation; self-control. I can do it!
True: Christ in me; I in Christ.
False: Chronic guilt, indifference, depression, failure, constant desire for approval.
True: Love, joy, peace, faithfulness, perseverence, gratitude, Divine guidance, service, forgiveness.
Salvation by faith in Christ sounds far too easy for most people. They want to think that they have done something to save themselves. Their ‘religion’ becomes one of self-effort that leads either to disappointment or pride, but its final end is eternal death in an everlasting Hell. Jesus has a much better and very simple way; and it is the only way, and it alone leads to eternal life. You must be “born again.”
Blessings We Receive
Numbers 6:24-26 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. (KJV) . . . A blessing is God’s divine, beneficial, kindness that rest upon us. This ancient blessing in the Book of Numbers helps us to understand what a blessing is really supposed to do. (1.) He blesses and keeps us (help and protection). (2.) He makes His face shine upon us (is pleased). (3.) He is gracious (merciful and compassionate); (4.) He lifts up His face toward us (gives His approval). (5.) He gives us peace. Whenever you ask God to bless others or yourself, you are asking Him to do these five things listed in the above verses. So, what blessings can we, as believers in Jesus, expect from God the Father in today’s times? God has NOT changed, so what He promised years ago, stand firm today (Heb.13:8). This in itself is a tremendous blessing! Just knowing God always keeps His Word means a lot! We know we can believe anything He tells us! Let’s discuss some of the blessings that go along with being “born again.”
(1.) Food, drink, clothing. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV) . . . “Seek ye first his kingdom and his righteousness” means to turn to God FIRST for help. We should fill our thoughts with His desires. We should take His character for our own. We should serve and obey Him in every way, every day. He must come FIRST, no matter what! What is really important to you? If people, objects, goals and other desires compete with God in your heart, they can quickly knock God out of FIRST place. So, what Jesus is telling us is this: IF we put God in His rightful place, ALL these will be given to us by God.
(2.) A secure relationship with God. Luke 18:29-30 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. (KJV) . . . The disciples had paid a high price to follow Jesus; they left their homes and jobs. Jesus tells Peter that following Him has its benefits as well as its sacrifices. Any believer who has had to give up something to follow Christ will be paid back, maybe not in this life on Earth, but in the next one in Heaven. IF you have to give up a secure job, you will find out that God offers you a secure relationship with Him, now and forever. IF you have to give up your physical family’s approval, you will gain the love of the eternal family of God. The disciples paid a price to follow Jesus, and Jesus told them they would be rewarded. That goes for us as well! Please remember this! What you give up cannot compare with the reward you will receive! Don’t dwell on the temporary things you have to give up; think about the eternal things you have gained and praise God!
(3.) Eternal life in Heaven. John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (KJV) John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) . . . Most who hear the Gospel of Christ and do not understand it, is simply because they have no desire to understand it! Christ is the Door to Heaven! He is a Door through which we can pass, and with Whom we can also communicate. We must come in by Christ Jesus, as the Door. Our faith in Jesus makes Him our Mediator, between God and man. He is the Good Shepherd and keeps us in His abundant pasture. We are safe and secure with Him! But, He is the only WAY to God. We have salvation, eternal life only through Jesus!
(4.) Wisdom. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (KJV) . . . Wisdom starts with reverence and respect for Almighty God, leads to right living, and also gives us the ability to tell right from wrong. God is always willing to give us this wisdom, but we will not be able to receive it if our goals are self-centered instead of God-centered; and your life cannot be centered around God unless you are born again! To learn God’s will, we need to read His Word and ask Him to help us obey it. God is never angered or displeased when we ask for wisdom. Ask Him, and you shall receive it.
(5.) Joy. John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. (KJV) . . . Supreme joy comes from Christ dwelling within us. Christ is always near, and always willing to help us. Knowing this gives joy deep inside. We also have joy in knowing that we have eternal life, NOW (John 5:24). And when He comes at the Rapture, we will fully realize ultimate and eternal joy. He who lives within us will fulfill His final purposes for us.
(6.) Peace. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (KJV) . . . We have rich and lasting peace deep within our soul when we are born again. Unlike worldly peace, this peace is confident, certain and hopeful assurance in any and all circumstances. With Christ’s peace, we have no need to fear the present or the future. The Holy Spirit can and will fill you with Christ’s peace and take stress, doubt and worry away from your life (Phil. 4:6-7). Sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and numerous other evil forces are at war within us. But the peace of God moves into our hearts to restrain these vicious forces and offer comfort instead of conflict. Jesus will give us that peace if we are willing to accept it from Him.
(7.) Contentment. 1 Timothy 6:6-8 But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. [KJV]
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (KJV)
Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. (KJV) . . . Contentment is something people around the world search for; but most never find it. WHY? Because it can be had only through Jesus. Our lifestyle should not be one of lusting after worldly things (Mat. 6:19-21).
He has promised to give us everything we need. Why not believe Him? Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV) God does not lie . . . ever! What He promises, He will do! He also tells us His children He “will never leave nor forsake us.” Knowing this gives absolute and perfect contentment!
(8.) Access to God’s Throne of grace. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (KJV) . . . We have access to God when we are born again, whereas God will NOT hear the prayers of an unbeliever (John 9:31). God’s children can go directly to God in prayer any time of the day or night . . . 24/7! NO busy signal!
(9.) Victory over death. 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (KJV) One day our
perishable earthly bodies shall be transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die. It will be then that the Scriptures will be fulfilled: Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. (KJV)
It seemed that Satan was victorious in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). And it seemed Satan was victorious when Jesus died on the cross. But he was NOT victorious! God turned Satan’s seeming victory into utter defeat, because Christ Jesus rose from the dead (Luke 24:39-40;
John 20:20; Acts 1:3).
Because of this amazing victory, death is no longer a source of dread or fear to born again believers. Christ overcame it, and one day we too will rise again from the dead also. The law will no longer make sinners out of us who can in no way keep it. Death has been defeated. We have hope beyond the grave!
(10.) Divine fellowship. Matthew 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. (KJV) . . . Jesus plainly tells us here that anyone who welcomes a person bringing the Gospel of Christ, is welcoming Christ Himself; and anyone who welcomes Jesus is welcoming the Father who sent Him as well.
John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (KJV) Fellowship with God the Father and Jesus is an awesome thing. Not everyone, desires to understand Jesus’ message. The Gospel has been proclaimed world-wide, yet very few receive it. Jesus saves the best revelations of Himself for those who truly love and obey Him.
I have named ten marvelous blessings we receive when we become born again; but I have barely scratched the surface. We have hope, that an unbeliever cannot possess. Born again believers know they are going to Heaven! (John 20:31; 1 John 5:10-13). We have forgiveness, day after day from our Father in Heaven (1 John 1:8-9). We have mercy and compassion that never ceases (Ps.103:17; Isa.54:8). He tenderly and carefully watches over His children, day and night. There is gentleness and goodness, and too God’s amazing grace (Rom.3:24; Eph.2:8-9), God blesses us each and every day we live, in some way or another. We have fellowship with other believers. And in friends He sends our way, we have His kind and comforting encouragement.
As you survey your life, if you have been born again; you know that God has been instrumental in your life! You can SEE what He has done. God loves His children, and cares for them.
God promises eternal life, way above,
But only if we accept His Son, in love.
He does not say that to Heaven, all shall go,
Just to those who trust Jesus, will His blessings flow.
We must be God’s child, so Heaven we can see,
When we accept God’s Plan, Heav’n is our decree.
We must receive Jesus; believe on His Name,
No matter who you are, God’s Plan is the same!
We must be ‘Born Again’, Jesus tells us clear,
Please listen to Jesus, don’t turn a deaf ear.
We must be ‘Born Again’, or Heav’n we’ll not see,
But all too many, from the precious Gospel flee.
‘Born Again’ --- so many cannot understand,
If you trust Jesus, He’ll take you by the hand.
He’ll lead you, into the family of God,
On that narrow road, where those before have trod.
Just open your heart, let Him come inside,
Wondrous joy, and peace; will in your life abide.
God’s blessings unfurl, as you trust and obey,
But we must be His child, there’s NO other way!

(Jn.1:12-13; 3:3-8,15-18,36; Lu.20:34-36; Ro.8:16,21; 1 Jn.3:10; 5:2; Jam.2:5)
You must be born again if you ever want to see God the Father, or the place where He lives (Heaven). All born again believers are God’s children, and will live in a “mansion” prepared for them by Jesus (John 14:2-3). All unbelievers will live in Hell.
CAN YOU IMAGINE??
Can you imagine, that place called Hell?
Where ALL unbelievers one day will dwell.
Not any light, and darkness so deep,
No rest for the weary, not any sleep.
Can you imagine that awful place?
Residents there shall never see God’s Face.
Everything good and pure are no more,
Never a hope to see Heaven’s shore.
Can you imagine the agony?
Eternal destruction, for eternity!
Unquenchable thirst, and horrid screams,
A hundred times worse than your worst dreams.
Can you imagine that putrid smell?
The fire and brimstone, nothing shall quell!
All this goes on for eternity,
With nary a glimmer of serenity.
Many seem to think Hell is make-believe,
And that pain and sorrow they’ll not receive.
But God plainly tells most are on Hell’s road,
That place of misery will be their abode.
You can change roads today; it’s not too late,
So the gates of Heaven will be your fate.
But you must trust Christ, He holds the ‘key,’
Reject Him and it’s Hell, for eternity!

You do NOT want to go to Hell!!!
When you plan a trip, to go away,
Do you prepare for that special day?
If you’re like most, you plan well ahead,
With preparations; so there’s no dread.
Most people never prepare or plan,
For the most important trip of man.
Most live as if they won’t ever die,
Death is certain, don’t try to deny.
When your day comes, just where will you go?
Your soul lives for e’er, you’d better know.
Just two destinations; Heav’n or Hell,
You’re headed for one, for e’er to dwell.
Have you made preparations for that day?
When you will leave this Earth, and go away?
You will leave, there is NO doubt at all,
When your time is up, our God will call.
Hell is a place, folks don’t want to hear,
But it is there, and a place to fear.
You don’t want to go to Hell below,
Instead, our Saviour, you need to know.
Only Christ can take you to Heav’n’s land,
You must prepare, and be well planned.
Your most important trip, is soon to come,
Just where will be your eternal home?
