The Real Jesus

Matthew 16:13-16 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14  And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. (KJV)

Why is it that the only time some people say the Name of Jesus is to blaspheme it? Why does the Name of Jesus anger some people? It is my opinion that many people do NOT know who the real Jesus was and is! Consider what the Scriptures say about Him!

Who Jesus Is!

His birth: Jesus was born in Bethlehem to a virgin, which prophets had predicted 700 years earlier. Although He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and had created the world, He was laid in a manger. Angels announced His birth. And, later, wise men visited Him. (Gen.3:15; Isa.7:14; 9:6; Mic.5:2; Luke 2:1-7).

His wisdom: At 12, He spent three days with the rabbis, asking questions that revealed His understanding (Luke 2:44-52).

A forerunner would precede Him: John the Baptist would prepare the way for the Messiah (Isa.40:3-5; Mat.3:1-12; Mark.1:1-8; Luke 3:3-6)

His baptism: He did not need to be baptized, but He wanted to identify with sinners so they would know He loved them. (Mat.3:13-15; Mark 1:9-11).

His temptation: Satan tempted him for 40 days and 40 nights, yet He did not sin. (Mat.4:4-11; Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1-13).

His ministry: He boldly challenged the man-made traditions of the Jews. He healed people, Jews and Gentiles, He raised the dead and forgave people of their sins. (Mat.4:23; 9:35; 12:22; 14:14; 15:30; 19:2).

He revealed God’s desires for us: God wants to be involved in our lives in a personal way. (John 3:15-16; 14:21; 16:33; 20:31; Rom.5:1-9).

He was protected by God the Father: Although the leaders wanted to kill Him, God protected Jesus’ life until the crucifixion. (Mat.2:13-23; 12:10; 26:4; 27:1,23; Mark 11:18; 12:12;14:55; 15:13; Luke 4:29; 6:11; 19:47; 23:21; John 8:29; 19:15).

Jesus is our Saviour: Luke 1:47;  Luke 2:11; John 4:42; Acts 5:31;  Acts 13:23; Eph. 5:23 Phil.3:20; 1 Tim.1:1; 1 Tim.2:3; 1 Tim:4:10; 2 Tim.1:10;  Titus 1:3-4; 2:10;  2:13; 3:4;  Titus 3:6; 2 Peter 1:12 Peter 1:11; 2 Peter 2:20; 3:2; 3:18; 1 John 4:14; Jude 1:25)

King of Kings, Lord of Lords: (Rev.17:14; 19:16; Deut.10:17; Ps.72:11; 136:3; Pro.8:15-16; Dan.2:47; Phil.2:9-11; 1 Tim.6:15).

Prince of Peace: (Isa.9:6; Eze.46:2; Dan.8:25; John 14:27; 2 Thes.3:16; Heb.13:20)

Rose of Sharon, Lily of the Valleys: (Song 2:1, 16;  6:3; Isa.35:1-2).

Son of God: (Mat.8:29; 14:33; 16:16; 27:54; Mark 1:1; 3:11; 5:7; 15:39; Luke 1:35; 4:41; 8:28; John 1:34; 1:49; 3:18; 9:35; 11:27; 20:31; Acts 8:37; 9:20; Rom.1:4; 5:10; 2 Cor.1:19; Gal.2:20; Eph.4:13; Heb.10:29; 1 John 3:8; 4:15; 5:5,10,12,13,20; Rev.2:18)

Son of Man: Jesus’ favorite Name for Himself: (Mat.8:20; 11:19; 12:8; 12:40; 13:37; 13:41;
16:13, 27-28; 17:9, 12, 22; 18:11; 19:28; 20:18, 28; 24:27, 30, 37, 39, 44; 25:13, 31; 26:2, 24, 45, 64; Mark 2:10, 28; 8:31, 38; 9:9, 12, 31;  10:33, 45;  13:34; 14:21, 41, 62; Luke 5:24; 6:5; 7:34; 9:22, 26, 44, 56, 58; 11:30; 12:8, 10, 40; 17:22, 24, 26, 30; 18:8, 31; 19:10; 21:27, 36; 22:22, 48, 69; 24:7; John 1:51; 3:13-14; 5:27;  6:27, 53, 62;  8:28; 12:23, 34; 13:31; Acts 7:56; Rev.1:13; 14:14

The Word of God: (John 1:1, 14; 1 John 1:1; 5:7; Rev.19:12-13)

Emmanuel: (Isa.7:14; 8:8; Mat.1:23)

Lamb of God: (John 1:29, 36; Rev. 5:6; 7:17; 14:10; 15:3; 19:9; 21:22-23; 22:1, 3)

Great High Priest: (Heb.1:3; 2:17; 3:1, 5-6; 4:14; 6:20; 7:25-26; 8:1; 9:12, 24; 10:12; 12:2)

Alpha and Omega: The first and the last. (Rev.1:8, 11; 21:6; 22:13; Isa.41:4; 44:6; 48:12)

The Good Shepherd. Sheep follow the shepherd's voice. The shepherd protects them from predators. (Isa.40:11; Zec.13:7; Mat.26:31; Mark 14:27; John 10:11, 14; Heb.13:20; 1 Pet.2:25;
1 Pet.5:4).

The Door (into eternal life). There's no other way to spend eternity with God. (John 3:18, 36; 8:24; 10:1, 7, 9; 14:6; Acts 3:12; Rom.5:2; Eph.2:18; Heb.9:8; 10;19-22)

The Vine. When we stay in close contact with Him, we bear spiritual fruit. (John 15:1-5).

The Bread of Life. He is the only Person who can truly satisfy our hearts. (John 6:33, 35, 48, 51). Also John 6:52-57. . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/john_commentary_ch6.html

The Light of the World. When we keep our hearts clean, His light shines through our countenance and testifies that we belong to Him. (Mat.4:16; 17:2; Luke 1:79; 2:32; John 1:4, 9; John 3;19; 8:12; 9:5; 12:35, 46; Acts 22:6; 26:23; 2 Cor.3:14; 4:6; Eph.5:14; 1 John 1:5; 2:8; Rev.1:16; 21:23;22:16).

The Way, the Truth and the Life. He's the ONLY way to happiness, peace, joy and eternal life.  (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Pet.2:4; 1 John 2:23)

If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father. (John 14:7, 9, 20; 12:45; Col.1:15; Phil.2:6; Heb.1:3).

The Father and I are one. (John 10:30; 17:21; Mat.11:27; 28:19; 1 Tim.3;16).

Jesus always pleases the Father. (Mat.3:15; 26:39, 42; Luke 22:42; John 4:32, 34; 5:30;
12:49-50; 14:31; 17:4; Heb.3:2)

Jesus as a Servant: (Mat.20:28; Mark 10:45; Luke 22:24-30; John 13:1, 4-17; 2 Cor.8:9; Phil.2:7-8; Heb.5:8).

Jesus came to reveal the Father to us.
To die on the cross to allow us to have a personal relationship with the Father. He came not to be served, but to serve . . . to sacrifice His life on behalf of sinful humanity.

To take our place, to take our punishment for sin. He paid a price He did NOT owe because we had a debt we could not pay.

To show us the way to have eternal life. Jesus said, No man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).

To build His church . . . both Jews and Gentiles. (John 10:16; 11:52; 17:20-21; 1 Cor.12:12; Gal.3:22-29; 5:6; Eph.2:13-22; 4:4).

Jesus never wrote a book, but the most important book in the world, the Bible, is about Him. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://www.lastdaysprophecy.org/L_D_is_jesus_really_god.htm

He never wrote a song, but there are thousands of songs about Him. (Psalms & Song in the Bible plus thousands of hymns in the world).

He never owned a house, but He is in Heaven right now, preparing a home for us. (Mat.8:20, Luke 9:58; John 14:1-3; 1 Pet.1:3-8).

While on Earth, He never traveled outside of Israel, but today, He is present everywhere, because He is omnipresent. http://www.hisservants.org/is_jesus_god_h_s.htm

Christ never practiced medicine, but He's the Great Physician ever. (Mat.8:2-3, 17; 9:12-13; 18:18-19; Mark 1:31, 42; 2:17; 10:52; Luke 4:23; 5:29-32, 41-42; 17:15-18; 1843; John 5:1-9, 14; Acts 3:7-8).

Jesus never had an army, but He subdued many kingdoms. (Deut.9:4-5; Ps.67:4; 79:6; 96:10; Isa.34:2; Jer.10:25; Mic.5:15; Zep.3:8; Rev.16:19).

Herod tried to kill Him, but he could NOT! (Mat.2:16-18)

Satan tried to tempt Him to sin, but He could NOT! (Mat.4:1-11; Mark 1:13; Luke 4:1-13)

Not even the grave could hold Him!  Jesus is NOT dead! Jesus is ALIVE! He is risen! (Mat.17:9; 26:32; 27:64; 28:6-7; Mark 9:9; 14:28; 16:6, 9, 14; Luke 24:6, 34; John 2:22; 21:14; Acts 17:3; Rom. 8:34; 1 Cor. 15:14, 20).

Jesus is at the Father's right hand, making intercession for us, watching over believers. At God’s right Hand: (Mark 16:19; Luke 22:69; Acts 2:33; Acts 5:31; 7:55-56; Rom.8:34; Col.3:1;  Heb.10:12; 12:2; 1 Pet.3:22)
One day, He shall return to remove TRUE believers before the Tribulation Period (1 Thes.4:13-18), judge sinners (Rev.20:11-15) and reward the saints (1 Cor.3:11-15) . Are you ready to face Him? The only way to prepare yourself for eternity is to accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord.
