The Power of Salvation is IN the Gospel,
Not in Anyone's Eloquent Words
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (KJV) . . . The best way to win anyone to the Lord is to just give them the good news (Gospel) of Jesus Christ. If a person refuses to obey the Gospel, then no amount of arguing is going to change their heart or mind of their unbelief. The word “power” means dynamite. The Gospel is God’s dynamite to those who turn in repentance from their unbelief and to the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
God had chosen Israel as His People to spread the Gospel throughout the Earth, but they failed. The Old Testament high priest would make atonement once a year for Israel’s sins. The Israelites were saved by putting their faith in WHO was represented by the blood sacrifice . . . the coming Savior. People in foreign nations (Gentiles) could also be saved if they put their faith in the God of Israel. Salvation has always been by grace through faith!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ shows us in what way the conditions of the after-life will be changed. In Luke, we see how that the Sadducees came to Jesus, tempting Him. The Sadducees denied the existence of spirits and the resurrection. They put before Him an extreme, although not impossible case, that of a woman who had been the wife, successively, of seven brethren.
Luke 20:27-38 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, 28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children. 30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless. 31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died. 32 Last of all the woman died also. 33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. 34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. 37 Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. 38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. (KJV)
To the Sadducees, the word marriage was the key-word which locked up the gates of an after-life, and insisted the resurrection was impossible and absurd. But Jesus unlocks and opens the souls of these men, showing that in spite of their intelligence, their thoughts were wrong. Marriage has its place in the life whose boundaries are birth and death, here on Earth. Marriage exists mainly for the perpetuation and increase of the human race. It has to do with the lower nature of man, the physical, the earthly life; but in the world to come birth, marriage and death all will no longer be. Luke 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. (KJV)
This same truth is taught by the appearances recorded in this Gospel of Moses and Elias.
Matthew 17:1-3 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. (KJV)
When they appeared upon the Mount of Transfiguration, Moses and Elias had been residents of the other world (Heaven), the one for nine centuries, the other for fourteen centuries. They did possess the form, and possibly the features of their old earthly body, the glorious body they then had was under conditions and laws totally different. They moved so easy and flowing! Even though their bodies had no wings, it had the agility and buoyancy of a bird, moving through the air swiftly and silently, as the light moves through the atmosphere.
And too, we must consider the Body of Christ after He was resurrected. It had not yet become the glorified Body of the heavenly life. John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. (KJV) . . . His Body was in its transition state, between the two . . . yet how it was changed! It was lifted high above the needs and laws of our earth-bound nature, the Risen Christ no longer lived among His own; He dwells apart . . . where . . . we do not know. When He does appear He comes in upon them suddenly, with no warning of His approach.
Luke 24:36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. (KJV) . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/luke_ch24.htm
John 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. (KJV)
After the bright, brief appearances of the Lord Jesus after His resurrection, He vanishes just as mysteriously as He came, and finally He passed into the clouds to Heaven (Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:9-11). http://www.godcannotlie.org/luke_ch24.htm
It seems to me that there is some kind of communication between the body of the old and of the new body, although how far it extends we do not know. We can only consider the apostle Paul’s words: 1 Cor. 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. (KJV) . . . After the Rapture (1 Thes.4:13-18), our body will no longer be a natural body, but shall be a spiritual body instead of a material form, and under spiritual laws.
Philippians 3:20-21 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. (KJV) . . . I simply love this Passage! Please read it again! Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body . . . we shall have a SINLESS body, one like our Lord Jesus has! We will NEVER sin again, ever!
I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to this new body that will not sin. I will not disobey God again, I will not anger or displease Him ever again when I receive my new body. Come, Lord Jesus, come! . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/phil_ch3.htm
