The Gospel determines our destiny
The Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches that our character determines our destiny. Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. (KJV) . . . A person’s life does NOT consist in what he possesses. Earthly wealth should never be our goal in this life. Worldly wealth is certainly NOT the right kind of wealth according to Jesus! Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (KJV) http://www.godcannotlie.org/matthew_ch6.html
ALL worldly wealth shall be left behind as impurity, when we reach the grave, if not before. Expensive clothes can be eaten by moths, things we collect can get rusty, and thieves can break in and steal what you have (Job 27:16; Job 13:28; Isaiah 50:9; 51:8). James 5:2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. (KJV) . . . This is a clear reference to our Lord's words. ALL worldly, temporal treasures are uncertain.
A person’s possessions do NOT make the true life, nor do they make the real self! It is NOT what a man HAS, but what a man IS, and a man IS exactly what his heart makes him. Our outer life simply reveals our character, our inner soul. Our personality is the elusive and silent influence of what the soul unconsciously reveals as a fragrance . . . this fragrance can be either a good smell or the complete opposite, a rotten, stinking odor.
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (KJV)
Jesus Himself was/is the "Resurrection and the Life," and ONLY He holds in His own Hands, the keys of hell and death (Rev.1:18). The Bible speaks again and again of a day of testing and examination, when our actions shall be weighed and characters scanned, and when men will be judged according to their works. According to works: (Ps.62:12; Pro.24:12,29; Isa.59:18; Jer.21:14; 25:14; 32:19; Lam.3:64; Eze.7:8-9; 18:30; Hos.12:2; Zec.1:6; Mat.16:27; Rom.2:6; 2 Tim.4:14; Rev.2:23; 18:6; 20:12-13; 22:12).
The Coming of the Son of Man, in the glory of His Father, with an entourage of holy angels shall be the returning of the Lord, His Second Coming (Rev.19:11-21) will be to reckon with His servants. This will be at the end of the age, as the angel-reapers separate the wheat from the tares (Mat.13:30). It will be when Christ Himself, as the Great Judge, will say to the faithful ones Come ye (Mat.25:34), and grant to them the heavenly kingdom . . . and at that same time, He shall say Depart from me, ye cursed (Mat.25:41), and drive them from His Presence into the everlasting fire.
Jesus does NOT say one word to suggest that this judgment is NOT final. The unfaithful servant is cut asunder (Mat. 24:51). The enemies who would not have their Lord to reign over them are slain (Lk.19:27), and when once the door is shut, it is all in vain that those outside cry, Lord, open to us(Mat.25:11). There is in fact . . . an open door in front of ALL people . . . but people slight and scorn it, and once a person refuses to enter in through that open door (Jesus), they shall abide by THEIR choice, OUTSIDE the door, OUTSIDE the Kingdom, with the workers of iniquity, (Lk.13:27) where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (Lk.13:28).
Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. (KJV)
Millions listen in vain for one tiny bit of hope from this world. In vain the rich man makes his appeal to "father Abraham" . . . in vain the rich man pleads for good Lazarus to give him one drop of water . . . in vain he asks for a smaller amount of pain. But God in His Word tells us once a person is in Hell, he/she is there forever!
Jesus clearly states that between the rich man and any help for hope, is a "great gulf fixed that none may cross," (vs 26) . . . that NONE may cross! These are the words of Jesus, although here put in the mouth of Abraham. My friend, IF this is not final, I don’t know what is?
We do NOT know what the judgment may be that is passed upon those who err but are unaware of what God’s Words states. All that we do know is that Jesus clearly indicates that the number of the stripes will vary (Lk.12:47-48); according if they knew, or they did not know, the Lord’s will. BUT, dear one, for ALL those who had the light (the Gospel), and refused it and turned away from it, who KNEW what was right . . . but did it not do it, who heard the Gospel of love, with its great salvation message, and rejected it . . . for these there is only an "outer darkness" of Hell, an eternal hopelessness according to the Holy Word of Almighty God! WHAT is that outer darkness? It shall come from the stubbornness of their own inner blindness, a blindness that comes from their willful and persistent sin they refuse to give up. Do you know what you do is wrong and is sin in God’s eyes? It is not too late for you to change your ways! Scripture warns all people to turn to God’s only begotten Son before it is too late. Dear one, IF you die without Christ, it is too late! Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (KJV) . . . NO one can pray you out of HELL once you are there! Make the right choices in life! Choose to walk the narrow road with Jesus!
BEWARE!!! Hell is eternal, everlasting, forever: (Isa.66:24; Mat.25:41, 46; Mk.9:43, 46; Jude 1:6-7; Rev.20:10).
