Being In Christ
A person does NOT become a new creature until AFTER he is in Christ.
In Christ: (Rom.8:1; 16:3,7,9; 1 Cor.1:30; 3:1; 4:10,15; 16:18.22; 2 Cor.5:17; 12:2; Gal.1:22; Eph.1:1,3,10,12; 2:10,13; Phil.1:1; Col.1:2; 1 Thes.2:14; 2 Tim.3:2; Phm.1:23; 1 Pet.5:14)
Below are some Scriptures that tell us how to become a new creature, a born again believer, a child of God.
John 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (KJV)
John 3:3-8 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (KJV)
Ephesians 4:22-24 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV)
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. (KJV)
Colossians 3:9-10 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (KJV)
When we become God’s child (1 John 5:12), we are a new creature! See below:
Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: (KJV)
Ezekiel 18:31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? (KJV)
Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (KJV)
1 Peter 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. (KJV)
This change comes AFTER a person is saved, NOT before, NEVER before. I have many inmates who write to me, saying that there are so many in the prisons that claim to be a Christian, but the way that they act and speak clearly state differently. It is not only in the prisons, it is EVERYWHERE in the free world as well. Any person who willingly lives a sinful life, while 'professing' to be a "Christian" . . . probably was never saved in the first place. IF a person is TRULY saved . . . they begin to change their lifestyle.
The following is Jesus telling us some Truths we should never dismiss! A dire warning!
John 3:15-18 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (KJV)
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (KJV) . . . John the Baptist adds this!
1 John 5:11-12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV) . . . The apostle John adds this! When something is repeated in the Bible, I suggest that you pay close attention because it is very important!
Consider how many who profess to be ‘Christian’ yet knowingly and willingly live in sin:
- Living in sin without being married.
- Sex outside of marriage, even children in grade school.
- Lasciviousness, dressing and acting immorally.
- Homosexuality being widely accepted, even among professing ‘Christians.’
- Same sex marriage being widely accepted, even among professing ‘Christians.’
- Abortion, murder of the unborn.
I could go on and on, but I think you see what I mean. ALL of the above are SIN in God’s eyes! NONE of them can be backed Biblically! WHY do people not believe the Bible??? My friend, God keeps ALL His Promises! He keeps the ones to His children (Heaven, rewards, etc) AND He keeps the ones to the wicked, those who refuse to believe Him (agony of Hell).
We ALL are SPIRITUALLY dead until we accept Jesus as our Saviour and Lord. The moment we truly believe and accept Him, we are born again spiritually into God's family, and forgiven of ALL our sins (John 1:12-13; Jn.3:3; Jn.3:15-18; Jn.5:24). IF you are born again spiritually into God's family, when you die, you go IMMEDIATELY into the Lord's Presence! . . . 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (KJV)
ANYONE who refuses to believe God and reject His one and only Way of salvation (Jesus), are ETERNALLY dead and will have as their eternal home the agony of HELL! The decision is in YOUR hands. I pray you make the right one, for IF you make the wrong decision, there is NO second chance, NO reprieve, NO purgatory, NO reincarnation, NO more mercy and NO exit doors! NO one can PRAY you out of HELL because the Bible chearly tells us it is eternal! Once you pass through the door of death into Hades, you can never pick up your belongings and leave because you don’t like it there! Once you die, it is over for you. Once you die, you can make NO more decisions. So make sure you choose wisely!
Unless you are resting totally in the precious Blood of Jesus (1 Pet.1:18-19) that washes our sins away, then you have NOT been born-again by the Spirit of God (John 3:3-8). Only a TRUE believer in Christ will be given the Holy Spirit. Indwelling of Holy Spirit: (Jn.14:16-17; Rom.8:9-11; 1 Cor.3:16-17; 6:19; 1 Jn.2:27).
Our old nature can be controlled ONLY by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. Please don’t ever quench the Spirit (1 Thes.5:19), but instead be ye filled with Him each and every new day (Eph.5:18).
Salvation is NEVER the result of what we do, or how good we are! It is simply believing God (1 John 5:10-13), receiving what God has already done for us!
(KJV)
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (KJV)
John 6:37-40 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. (KJV)
John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (KJV)
John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. (KJV)
John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. (KJV)
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (KJV)
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (KJV)
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (KJV) . . . God tells us that believers can KNOW they have eternal life in Heaven!
Acts 13:38-39 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. (KJV)
Acts 20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, (KJV)
Romans 3:24-25 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (KJV)
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (KJV) . . . Justified = just as if I’d never sinned; declared not guilty in the courts of Heaven!
Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. (KJV)
Galatians 5:1-4 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. (KJV)
Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (KJV)
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (KJV)
Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: (KJV)
Titus 3:5-8 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. (KJV)
